The M14 was a fine battle rifle but, it isn’t a target rifle and neither is the M1A. I have a loaded M1A and she shoots 1- 1 1/2 MOA with match ammo, my LRB M25 was worse than that until, I had it rebarreled to the 6.5 Creedmoor. The first time you let the charging handle go and the bolt slams home on the m1a, youll know you made the right choice.
The ruger is the random hot tinder chick of the week... might seem like a fun ride, but nothing to commit to.
The m1a is Audrey Hepburn, classic elegance that will always be beautiful.
As far as comparisons to women go it is more like the old chick that is yelling 60 is the new 40. The only thing the M1A has going for it is, its cousin the M14 was the main battle rifle between the end of Korea and the Adoption of the M16 and still is being used by the military in a limited role. It has a cult following like the 41 mag, Glock, 1911 and the M1 Garand which makes it a burnin hell offense to speak against it. It is a nice gun but, let’s not kid ourselves.
