Help me find my next pistol - DA/SA

So, my birthday is coming up next month and my wife is getting me a pistol for my bday gift, but she has a budget lol. $400-500 range only.
This is going to be a range toy and possibly here and there with steel challenge.
I want a 9mm, DA/SA

Im leaning towards a cz p07 but I wanna hear if anyone can suggest something else. looks also matter alot to me. I really really want a STI staccato but obviously doesnt fit the given budget so if anyone know a poor mans staccato looking let me know, even if its a .45 acp

9mm 1911 would be a good option. For the price range you posted a rock island would be the best option in my opinion.

Hell if you are willing.. look into maybe a police trade in.

You can usually find Sig P229 or HK USPs for under 500 (they are usually in .40 but you can always change them go 9mm bam 2 guns)

Don't get the po7 , get a 75 SP-01 . Only 9mm I've ever liked so much that I got more than one of them.

EDIT: That might be a little above budget, but you can get a regalar cz 75 for pretty close. Mostly the only difference is the rail (and some minor other things). Still slightly above budget, but every bit worth it.

Missed this the first round. Agree with the others for a good LEO trade in, i would look at P229 or P226 (though most of the P226's I've seen are in .40)

I’ve got a CZ P-07 that is my carry gun. It’s a great gun, shoots great, trigger is good, the decocker is the omega variant so it’s much easier to modify/take down than the 75s.

The CZ P-01 or SP-01 Tactical might be up your ally if you’re straying from polymer. Both of these are the 75 series, so they are harder to disassemble (not field strip) but fun as shit to customize and polish.

If you invest in either CZ and have questions, I’m your Huckleberry.

Just one thing to mention with this I think. The only difference with the SP-01 Tactical vs The standard SP-01 is the 'Tactical' has a decocker instead of a manual safety. If you intended to do anything to it in terms of custom parts/conversion to SAO/etc down the road then you definitely do NOT want the 'Tactical' decocker version.

It's probably irrelevant here to the OPs budget, but I'm just mentioning it so that someone else doesn't go 'Tactical' and then later be pissed they can't add available bells and whistles.

The price for a used cop gun better be a " steal" because it's highly likely they have a huge round count through them. Then there is all the daily holster wear.. doesn't sound like a great idea to me..

High round counts? Most cops shoot their carry guns during qualifications... then when? And are actually serviced by armorers, and oh no holster wear..

Hahaha not a great idea, police trade ins are one of the best options out there for people new to guns or on a budget vs buying some cheap POS (I could name some brands but people will feel personally attacked at their poor choices)
