I have an old mossberg 340 k that I found in the drop ceiling of my old houses basement 10 years ago. It never worked. Now that my kids are getting older and into shooting and I'm teaching friends, family, members and thier kids how to shoot another .22 would be great. Especially for the price. So I investigated it today and everything seems to be functioning except nothing is making contact with the bullet to strike the primer. The trigger releases and the firing pin moves forward it just seems like it's too short so it won't strike the bullet. I'm assuming the firing pin broke. Anyone know where to get one and to verified this is the problem. I took some pictures. There is a gap in the first one and you pull the trigger and the gap disappears I'm assuming that's the firing pin moving forward. Then you can see from the other photos there is a step in the bolt in assuming that's where the rest of the firing pin should be and strike the bullet casing to fire it. Other question I have is am I better off getting a new bolt for $65 or am I better off replacing the firing pin. They seem to be about $12.00. I'm not sure how to take apart the bolt. Als the barrel is abi rusty bores pretty clean a few spots. Is it worth rebuluing or just leave it. I'm not thinking it's worth paying a guns smith for any of this so if I can't do it myself probably not worth it. Fire away boys and let men now your thoughts. Thanks.
