Help with CA AR crap law

since you all love me, I know you will continue playing internet lawyers and help me with a question for my friend in CA

They own an M&P sport and want to make it legal instead of registering.

In the end they will most likely have a local shop make it compliant. Yes, I know I know.

The way I read this is they have the same options as us.
- fixed mag
- bullet button
- AR maglock thing
- spur and add one or three fingers just like @Bullet Guy and @GUNSICK do to each other.

A friend of mine lived in cali and he moved his ar's first then he moved himself to Florida. He left couldn't take it anymore.

The Bullet Button is no longer compliant. Their new law says that a fixed magazine is a magazine that can only be removed when the action is disassembled. He can also go featureless via Thordsen stock or similar.

The ARMaglock is legal. The magazine can only be removed when the action is disassembled.

(1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that does not have a fixed magazine but has any one of the following:

(C) A folding or telescoping stock.

(E) A flash suppressor.
(F) A forward pistol grip.

Right. The next round is chambered by a seperate action of depressing the bolt release, not from the energy of the fired round.

None of the work arounds are going to get the ok from anyone who's opinion matters. This is one that makes sense for me.

The energy from your finger didn't extract the previous round and pull back the bolt far enough so that when going forward again it chambers the next round now did it?

That isn't opinion. Your finger didn't do anything. You can press that release button all day long and it isn't going to extract and chamber a round unless the previous round used a portion of it's energy to do the work.

All this device does is temporarily interrupt the chambering of a round just like an empty magazine does where it holds the bolt back. The rifle is still semi automatic.

You'll never be able to explain what energy chambered that round if it wasn't via your fingers energy so you'll turn a blind eye because you want it to work. I get it.

So since you want to build something that's questionable, why not build this?

I have a Spur grip on my @Bullet Guy lower-turned long-range (well with 223/556 anyway) rifle, and I hate it. Even though I've mainly fired the rifle with a bipod it's still painful to hold.

Yes, I added the 'Patrick Henry' trigger guard (one finger). That's where most of the pressure on my hand is, good point.

There's the boar grip too. If I had to choose between the spur without the finger grip trigger guard or the boar grip I'd go boar.

Here's the guy that did the custom work on my pistol. He just put together a featureless AR for himself. It looks like a pinned stock and a silly blocked off grip was all that was needed to be legal.

In California they define "Pistol Grip."

(d) "pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon" means a grip that allows for a pistol style grasp in which the web of the trigger hand (between the thumb and index finger) can be placed below the top of the exposed portion of the trigger while firing.
