It’s unloaded, can lock the bolt back but we tried removing the action but I believe the mag is preventing that from happeningFirst is it unloaded? Can you open the bolt?
If so can you remove the action from the stock?
Just spit-balling here..
Edit, Sorry I just saw the action screws are removed!
I’ll tell him to try this. We were messing with it early and we got the mag release to depress but the mag will still not let go. The release still springs back so you may be correct?Would this YT video be helpful?
If I follow this correctly maybe the magazine pin was installed incorrectly?
Can you get a stiff metal shim between the release and floor plate to engage the mag pin and jimmy it?
1BFH if all else fails lol
Could also just be so worn there's not enough throw on the plunger to fully disengage from the magazine.I’ll tell him to try this. We were messing with it early and we got the mag release to depress but the mag will still not let go. The release still springs back so you may be correct?
It appears as if the catch will not release even when the release is depressed. Action will not come out of the stock with the mag inCan you remove the action from the stock easily? This might expose more areas were metal is binding or pinching. Blind spots when rifle is assembled.
Dumb thought. There might be an over length screw in there somewhere which engages the magazine. Sometimes there are two assembly screws of different lengths that get swapped.
REF, when you got the release depressed as much as you could, did you also try pushing down on the top of the mag at the same time?I’ll tell him to try this. If not, lock the bolt back and give that a try. I'd use a dowel or piece of wood to avoid the bolt snapping closed on my thumb.
It might take 2 sets of hands to do.
ETA: Just don't push so hard that you damage the mag unless you're willing to sacrifice it. Since the plunger is conical shaped I think it would pop out with enough persuasion.
Tried this as well with him today. Looks like there’s a piece of the pin that holds the mag in, rolling around in there preventing it from moving. He’s to the point where he’s going to accept it being a fixed mag rifle. I told him I’d destroy that magazine to get it out without screwing up the action before I did that. His choice! If not, lock the bolt back and give that a try. I'd use a dowel or piece of wood to avoid the bolt snapping closed on my thumb.

He'll have to do just that if he ever needs to get the trigger group out. But if he got it cheap drive it till the wheels fall off. To each their own I suppose.REF, when you got the release depressed as much as you could, did you also try pushing down on the top of the mag at the same time?

I think he’s content with leaving it in instead of taking a chance of damaging the gunCould you pull the trigger group? That might give him a better chance of getting at the mag release. I have one of the earlier models, so the stuck magazine fix is guess work on my part.
