Henry .22

Do you any of you have any reason why a henry .22 would be a bad buy? Reliable? Reasonably accurate? Fun?



I already have 3 semi auto .22s and an old bolt .22. I have alot of. 22 lr. Some of it even starting to get a bit old. I thought this would be a fun way of training for my big lever guns.


Thoughts on them?

Funny you ask. I was eyeballing one the other day as it looked like a bunch of fun. My brother in law has one and loves it.

I was not pleased with mine. Open sites I couldn’t shoot accurately or group well so I bought a scope. Still couldn’t group well. I loaned it to a friend who knew the issues to see if he wants to buy it. He said he shoots it well and wants to but it. Whatever that means. I have plenty of other guns I shoot great so not sure what it is about the Henry. My kids don’t like it either. I bought it because I thought they would have fun with a lever action riffle.
I have a 10/22, a marlin bolt action 22, a savage 22, a marlin model 60 .22, and an old mossberg .22. I shoot all of those great with plenty of bullseyes. Not sure what it is about the Henry just no love for it. I also felt like it wasn’t mad as well as other guns out there.

I almost bought a Henry .22, but I found an older Marlin 39A first.

Get the Henry. A lever action .22 is a ton of fun. And you can fit enough .22 shorts in it to make Monkeyface cry!

I have bought two Henry .45-70 single shot rifles.
Very well made, solid and wood that would be at home on a $2K rifle!
Very accurate to boot. My son shot it so well he wanted his own.

Ive owned a henry 22. Was great. Only sold it because I already had my 10/22 and wanted something else. No issues. Was fun to shoot.

Not what you expect, If your looking for Henry Big Boy quality in a smaller package, you will be woefully disappointed. It is actually poorly designed and executed…not something you’d expect Henry to put out…

I have an older, made in Brooklyn H001, and I love it. My H003 pump action is a blast to shoot also. My pump is also older with a round barrel, the octagon barrel version doesn’t balance well to me.

I have a couple of Henry's (one .22) and love all of them, did have a problem with a bent(?) barrel on a .357 but sent it back and got it back with a new barrel in 2 weeks! Gotta love that turn around.

I have a Frontier 22 with the octagon barrel. Great fun. And being lever it can feed. 22 short. Having 22ish rounds of .22 in a lever is great fun.

I got the TRUMP2020 serial # H001 and a TRUMP2020 golden boy for my son... both fun to shoot, haven't zeroed in completely with it, more focused on my son shooting... but didn't see any issues except... well, nvm.

when my dad passed .. the henry 22 he had i left to mom to do what she wanted to do with it ..
i had more fun and joy with the old moss 152 semi i grew up on .. and still have it ..

its my go to varmint gun

That front grip makes it go full semiauto and the pistol finger grip (just look at any pistol from 1700's) increases your ability to kill more betterer (new word), then it obviously has a large capacity "clip" making it even more deadlier; plus it is trimmed in black and don't get me started on the peeps that will kill out to a thousand miles. I'm surprised it hasn't killed everyone and everything in the Tristate area by now!

I have 12 acres and a small farm, but otherwise live in suburbia. My Henry is very handy because I can cycle subsonic ammo to kill raccoons, rabbits, squirrels, etc. I'd rather not bother my neighbors if I can help it. It's a nice pest control gun. I love how smooth the action is.

I also have a Rossi in 357 mag. For me, I don't think the Henry helps with the center fire levers because the Henry is so light and smooth to operate. The Rossi feels like a totally different thing altogether.

The Henry is a lot of fun. I'd still want to own one even if I didn't have a farm use for it. I use it way more than my 10/22. Frankly my 10/22 feels kind of obsolete and boring since I bought my Henry.

Watching a buddy's experiences with a nightmare 30-30 and it's trash replacement from Henry has kept me from seriously considering anything from them.
