Hero Who Rescued Hawk During Hurricane Harvey Slammed For Confederate Flag
In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, the rescue of a Cooper hawk made waves after video footage of the helpless animal surfaced on social media.
Like other wild animals, the helpless bird sought refuge from the torrential rains, and found it in the warm cab of a driver, William Bruso, who documented the entire rescue on his YouTube channel. Bruso can be heard narrating while the cold bird stares into the camera.
Despite the heartwarming nature of the story, viewers are outraged by the fact that Harvey’s rescuer has a Confederate flag hanging in his home. This makes him a bad person, despite his incredibly humane actions.
An article on the Daily Dot, published Tuesday, draws negative attention to Bruso, equating him to a racist and a “problematic” individual.
Citing a leftist meme about the “milkshake duck” (i.e. the person everyone likes who turns out to be a racist), the piece goes on to opine about America’s “racist past and present.”
Responding to the deluge of anger on his YouTube comments page, Bruso said that he was “humble and blessed to have been given the opportunity to give refuge to [the hawk] upon his own request. Such an honor!”
He added that it would’ve been every bit an honor for him if he’d managed to rescue anything, or anyone else—including the extremely liberal Angelina Jolie. “How flags are important to y’all now? Seriously!”
