So, ticks are a thing? I remember hearing about it being really bad in CT, but hadn’t thought much about WNY in that regard. That’s great stuff that no one I’ve spoken to has ever brought up.

True story.......

I was out with my building partner and two of our surveyors. We were in a wooded area bordering on a massive cornfield. The four of us were walking the property, surveying (visually) the lay of the land, looking to find the most suitable location for a foundation. We were all in the same exact location together the whole time. Side by side, one behind the other. You know how you'd walk through the woods or fields with some buddies.

About an hour or so later we returned to our trucks. Before getting in we noticed a tick on one of the surveyors shirt. Took it off and we proceeded to do a tick check on all of us. Nothing to find on me or my partner or one of the other surveyors. The one surveyor with the tick we found multiple ticks on his jeans. We suggested lifting his shirt. That was a holy shit moment. There were easily 30 ticks all over his torso. Needless to say the poor guy had to strip down to his skivvies. Wasn't too bad. We only found about another 20 ticks on his legs (under his jeans). None of us were checking under the skivvies and definitely not under the sack!!!

I'd never seen anything like that before. It was amazing that this guy had probably 60+ ticks on him and none of us had even one. He was a damn tick magnet.

Sooooo, yes we have ticks in NY.

If you plan on making the wheelguns from being a felony waiting to happen, you better have a plan and do more research rather than stashing them in a NY relatives home thinking someday you can just drive them to your friendly ffl to start a process. You may be better off selling them in the parking lot you mentioned and repurchasing toys later.

As for semi-auto, my interests lie in circa WWII things like a Garand, G43, SVT40, SKS, Etc. Pistols notwithstanding.

Most of those are GTG in the original surplus configuration. I dont believe the g43 had a provision for a bayonet? The SVT40 has a detachable mag and brake so its a evil baby killer, as are Hakims and some others.
You could either butcher it, ride dirty or there is a registration provision to register anything over 50 years old that qualifies. I have not seen the mechanism to register a c&r, it might not actually exist. Registration compliance was abysmally low when it went down, its not a popular subject to talk about.

That’s what gets me. It’s not so much that the restrictions exist, but that it’s all so darn confusing. I think that’s to cover up for the fact that they don’t understand guns well enough to enact really targeted restrictions, so I’m happy to leave legislators in their vapid bubbles. I’m both heartened and disheartened that I just don’t know which way is right under the law.

Ticks are all over wny and they are infected but it is still localized. I see very very few (I do douse my hunting gear In permethrin tho). Some people seem to see them all the time.

Lol, for what little it’s worth, I actually noticed very little highway patrol presence in NYS compared to places like Louisiana which is crawling with highway patrol, county Mounties, and local yokels. Now THAT’s a place which likes to bust you. Indiana and Ohio are pretty high on that list too.

Then again, I have done very little trucking in NYS - maybe a couple thousand miles total out of the 400,000+ I have put behind me in a truck.

So, anyway welcome. NY has so much potential as a great place to live but it's been sadly ruined.



Tons of people have pistols but the process is complicated, time consuming and in some cases expensive. (I had to pay $100 for digital finger printing) and the process varies from county to county. Start the process asap.
