I could say that this is a good thing, that it will help a little bit. And I would be wrong.
IMO it's a political ploy, the gas tax $$$ that's not collected between June 1st and December 31st
will be made up simultaneously somewhere else... And them some... And then some more.
And of course, when the gas tax is reinstated.
The tax amount will be a lot higher than the original 16 cents a gallon.
So all in all, I give FUKH no credit. She's still at 0 points.

So, where’s the shortfall being made up? Politicians always have one hand behind their back, figuratively speaking. I cannot in good faith accept that a cut in fuel tax doesn’t have a corresponding or greater hike in another area.

If gas prices fell dramatically prior to this going into effect, would NY renege on the deal?
A temporary 16 cent decrease in fuel tax is so important we are going to wait 2 months to implement it. The amount seems arbitrary unless it gets us down to $3.99, but the timing coincides with election season.

Correct. It’s 100% for show. I have a truck and it takes 25 gallons of gas so at a $0.16 savings it’s $4.00/fill up. What can I get for $4.00 these days? It’s one gallon of gas per week I guess so it’s 16 miles.
