That’s pretty clear at this point. The messaging has turned 180 degrees about how great the economy is/was to now how unaffordable things are. Hochul is tossing some small crumbs around but it will not help at all. I think I’ll get $500 back of my own money and that will make all the difference in the world for me. $500 these days is nothing. Now she wants to give free lunches and breakfast to all kids in school. My kids refuse to eat most of it because it’s trash food. Next she wants $1,000/per kid under a certain age for the child tax credit. The funny thing is this won’t even cover the increase from her congestion pricing.
I wonder how many people will select to pay the increased fee vs ride the subway or bicycle. I wonder if this will achieve their goals. $9/day is costly for each day you work.

$9 on top of Thruway tolls, fuel, vehicle repairs, assuming one doesn't get a ticket down there, which is easy to do.

I'm waiting to see more of this here upstate, in bigger cities like inner Buffalo and Rochester. Want to go down a few roads there, you need to pay a "congestion" tax.

It's just all a fucking money grab. Doesn't do a damn thing.

The other thing it will do is make finding a job outside the city even more attractive.

That will fix the congestion problem, but will erode the tax base even further.

Once someone is working remotely, they have little incentive not to leave the tax prison.

I have a feeling she will be out of a job soon. She’s drowning up here and people hate her. Her polling numbers are in the toilet and she’s running scared right now. The subway crime, crime in general, and costs are killing her. She’s handing out some peanuts to try to appease people but it’s not a winning strategy. She’s losing support of unions and teachers too. The pay is not covering increases and people are starting to get squirrelly

I would like to add that if they knowingly do it the cost should be 10x the settlement agreed upon through punitive damages. They make comments now admitting they are doing it as a joke or to point this out. They even say well I don’t agree with this court decision so we’re doing this.
