There was no such thing as a school breakfast when I went to school.
We ate breakfast at home before we went to school. Who can't afford to make toast?
Who can't be bothered to take the time to make toast?
We either bought the school lunch or took lunch from home. Who can't afford a bologna sandwich and an apple? Who can't be bothered with making a bologna sandwich and putting it in a lunch bag?
In the last 35 years I've lived here, my school taxes have gone from $400 to $1,600 a year.
Of course, other people's kids supposedly needed a new football field with artificial turf and pro-level lighting. And a brand new baseball field with all the bells and whistles too.
My property taxes have skyrocketed on a property that hasn't been improved on.
It seems that the state's priorities are free food and the schools are new football fields.
It's only money, right? Other people's money, right?

If these people cannot afford to have kids, and cannot provide for their kids, then they shouldn't HAVE kids.
Arrest the parents for neglect and put the kids in foster homes.

This is not new. Many school districts qualified for free breakfast and lunch across the board based on average income. My district was removed a couple years ago not because of income but because shitbag parents were too lazy to fill out the form.Why are taxpayers paying to feed other people's kids?

This was not an issue though because the state stepped in and paid for breakfast and lunch programs regardless, I believe for all districts not just the ones "in need"
The bigger question is why if a district falls below the income threshold as an average do all students get free breakfast and lunch regardless of their household income? The really, really big question is why in those same districts are summer SNAP/EBT benefits given to everyone regardless of income?
I got the summer lunch SNAP/EBT a couple years ago for my kid even though I make in the top percentages of my district. I embraced my inner welfare recipient and used it to buy a couple nice tomahawks and lobster tails.

I agree. My district is a free lunch district and I asked why my kid gets it because I make too much. I was told it’s all people.
As for why people don’t fill out the form I refused because they wanted my social security number and the PTA moms were collecting them. I asked what security protocols were in place to safeguard That information and the response I got was it doesn’t matter it’s just your last 4 digits. I said those are the only ones that matter so I refused to fill it out.
Even better was when they kids were not served lunch in school we get these EBT cards in the mail. I asked what they were for and it was the money that the school would have received for tour child’s school lunch. I said no way I’ll get this with what I make. I called the number and are enough there was some absurd amount of money on it. So I called and asked if I was qualified for this and I was nervous to spend it. They said I was and it would just sit there if I didn’t spend it. I gave most of it to my kids and bought some groceries with some of it. The money kept coming even after the kids were back I school full time. This never made sense to me but I guess it was how the districts spent some of the Covid money they were given so I can’t argue with it coming back to the person who paid it.

Come on guys remember she’s giving us a tax brake and the taxes are the lowest that have been in25 years or 45 years or whatever lie she’s telling. It’s a 0.2% tax brake. I’ll make around $200,000 this year so $400 back, thanks that will do so much for me. That’s about a weeks worth of groceries.
