This basically invalidates the whole thing.
Every airsoft gun I own has some sort of serial or stamp on it of some sort. Either a full model number anyone can google, or a trademark and a generic issue number. I'd be surprised if all of them don't have at least something, making 99% of them under that category.
Furthermore this is only a civil penalty, if anything, if you look at the enforcement section for "imitation weapons" and applies to people engaged in the trade of these items, clearly, from the description of "import (implies selling)" and "distributing" and "selling" as the wording being used.

Is there a provision allowing local governments to make their own laws? If not, they might have just inadvertently struck down a lot of local laws-lol

There is nothing "reasonable" about it.
They'll squint, tilt their head, wear dark sunglasses, or whatever else they need to do to try to convince the judge that they "perceived it as" a real gun.
Just like confiscating cardboard cutouts.

I'd really love to see someone, who has a valid NY pistol permit, arrested for training with their airsoft "imitation" pistol. That would be a great case to present to a jury:
NYS Prosecutor: Members of the jury....Mr. Smith has an imitation pistol that could be mistaken for a real pistol. In this case, a Glock 17. Such an imitation pistol could be used to commit a crime since it could easily be mistaken for a real Glock 17.
Mr. Smith's Defense Attorney: Mr. Prosecutor, are you aware that Mr. Smith has a valid New York State pistol permit and that he already has a legally registered real Glock 17 9mm pistol? Since Mr. Smith has legal access to a real Glock 17, why does it matter if he has an imitation Glock 17?

So...if the item IS INDEED "an actual firearm, air rifle, pellet gun, or B-B gun," it can be any color, including black.
Good to know that airsoft is saved in New York state since airsoft guns are pellet guns that fire very light BBs.

makes me remember of long ago they tried to curb this with Orange tips on fake guns...what that failed?! when does a law fail.....a Law if rule of the land...how can a law fail....
