Hollow Points, illegal for NY carry?

Had a firearms instructor tell a bunch of us that Hollow Points are illegal to have in a carry gun. This came as a surprise to me as that's what I carry in my guns. I couldn't find anything specifically in NYS law prohibiting them. I'm aware of NJ law, that prohibits them, but that's not a concern. Wouldn't be the least bit surprised, Krazy Kathy penciled this in to some of her other unconstitutional bullshit.

"Instructor" doesn't know NYS Law: Hollow Points are perfectly acceptable in New York and New York City.

Way it's written Hollow Points can be used for self defense in the home in New Jersey. You can't carry them otherwise in that shit hole of a state.

As far as I know, New Jersey is the only state that prohibits carrying firearms. I don't know of any localities that prohibit it either.

There is definitely no NY state-wide or NYC-specific restriction on them. I'd be interested to know if anywhere else in the U.S. prohibits them.

Hollow points are not illegal for lawful use in New Jersey. It is a crime to commit a crime with hollow points in New Jersey. You can hunt with them, shoot them at the range, carry them if you have an illusive permit, stick 'em in a stew. Just don't commit a crime with them.

They tried to ban the sale of it a few years back and they might have but I can’t remember. I do t think it went through and up until recently it was still at cabelas by me but now cabelas has gone full commie and you can’t look at anything without an attendant so I don’t know anymore.

Did someone give you a reference that Hollow points or Defense rounds are illegal in NYS?

The only reference I can find is Penal Code 265.00, 18 for Armor Piercing Ammo being banned. NYS Open Legislation | NYSenate.gov

Assuming that is correct and I'm not missing any others, this would be legal. I know it is for sale in many big block stores. Often their lawyers have dug deep prior to selling.

The tannerite loophole was always that it was a consumer commodity (the reactive target) that just contained an explosive.

Consumer tannerite was the system, bottle and all.

You possess other systems like that, unless you have a license for the explosive in your cars air bag, and all your ammunition.

Nothing in NYS Law any where addresses hollow point bullets. (Armor Perching, yes.)
