Holographic and Reflex Sights

Well, I outfitted my low end hunting outfit and now, Like George Jefferson, I'm move'n on up!
I want a light weight, preferably 1 MOA, possibly a 2 MOA red dot sight. It sounds easy enough, but, I have astigmatism and most red dots look like a star burst, or sometimes like a bunch of hanging grapes. So I read up as much as I can and most of the experts say Holographic is the way to go fo people with my condition. I like the EOTECH HWS EXPS2™ , and the

HS510C-Holosun

But have no way to look thru one before buying. Does anyone here with astigmatism have any experience with these specific sights, or maybe someone near by may have one or both these sights that I could get a peak through.
Or possibly another option I am not aware of. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Just remembered, another sight of this type I am looking at, Mepro M21 Red Dot Day/Night Self-Illuminated Reflex Sight
I kinda like the idea of this one, no batteries, self illuminated.

Also take a look at the 1x and 3x (and even 5x?) prisms.

Or possibly another option I am not aware of. Help would be greatly appreciated.

I've got one of these, zero issues with parallax or people with astigmatism. The caveat is, there's a (forgiving) eye box, but that might not be what you're after.

Primary Arms SLx 1X MicroPrism™ Scope - Red Illuminated ACSS Gemini 9mm Reticle

You'd probably want different reticle, but there's a couple to pick from. Also, I dunno the parallax behavior on the 3x or 5x.

Thanks UaC, I have looked through the prism type sights and the dot is pretty crisp, but I was hoping for one of those big window type sights. I'm not a big fan of looking through a tube with this type sight.

Are you shooting with prescription glasses? When I use my prescription glasses I have the same issues you describe. When I shoot with normal eye protection, I only have issues with red dots looking like grapes when I put a magnifier behind them.

Yes, I wear Bifocals and get no relief with or without them.

Hey Robin,

I have both the Holosun 510C and the EOTech XPS. If you'd like we can find a time to meet up and you can see if you like one or the other.

I personally like the Holosun better. The reticle is crisp, great battery life, shake awake so can always leave on, runs on solar when outside, and the reticle auto dims depending on ambient light.

I have a 510c green and astigmatism. Reticle is crisp with or without rx lenses. My red dot Romeo7 is a starburst or cluster but looks clearer when magnified with a Juliet5. Go figure. Gotta try em all and see what works with your particular ‘tism.
