I saw that last night. What the hell would possess you to pull the pin on a grenade? Was someone that stupid or did they think it was fake?

YEs, agree, especially cleaning out a home of a War Vet, you find a grenade and decide its a good idea to pull the pin!?!?!? Even move the fucking thing? And if I did, some electrical or duct tape woulda been in order on that pin, with little doubt!

An old booby trap truck was to put the grenade in a glass jar after pulling the pin, then placing it so the jar would break when disturbed.

The jar holds the spoon in place until it falls off the door/ledge/whatever.

Just like guns don't just "go off" grenades don't either. That thing sat there quietly minding its own business for maybe 75 years, until some dumb ass just had to go and pull the pin and then let the spoon fly!
