That feeling when you realize your current setup doesnt match reality...

Home defense rig is a mossberg 500. I'm a lefty so the tang safety works well for me.

However....

I have an elzetta tube mounted flashlight that I activate with my support (right) thumb via the tailcap.

Walked through my most likely scenario and realized my first place of cover/concealment coming out of my bedroom requires a right-handed stance.No easy way to activate light on off hand.

So I bought one of these...

Anyone have any experience?

Going to try to run my upcoming shotty class right-handed.

no experience .. just going by uncle Joe .. just stick it out the window and blast 2 shots .. i will remove the window part of that and just blast

remove the safety or just keep it off safe .. your finger is it all guns are loaded even if not ..

its a shotty so anything you load for in the home is pretty much a slug .. keep that in mind .. unless you have long hallways

That looks like it would work, but I have no experience with that model. I do like the poly tac I have on my pcc.

my issue is more about being able to activate the light easily when shooting off hand than the safety.

What's odd is I've run through this scenario many times and never considered the light on my off hand.

Tight corner. Cover/concealment. Otherwise I'm fully exposed.

As for the light, I used to have a setup similar to this one, I liked it because you could put the light where you needed and activate it with your front hand without changing your grip at all.

I have two and like them for the most part. They feel like cheap plastic but it works and has actually been durable. Fun fact..... if you have a 870 dm it will not fit. So I have an extra brand new one if anyone is interested!

I have a nearly identical fore end on my 500, this one is made by EOTech. Slightly different shape than the streamlight as you can see. I think is actually like the Streamlight shape better.

The light works great, I like having it integrated into the fore end, makes operation very easy. My only critique is I'd like a little more aggressive checkering or stippling on the grip. Integrating the light into the fore end makes it bulky, so using it with sweaty hands (chances are good this will be the case if you're in a high stress HD situation) is a potential problem.
