Just saw this. Pretty horrifying. These guys were so brazen there were three landscapers across the street. Could have gone a lot worse if this guy's wife didn't have a gun to get this sorted out.

This is what I try to tell family and friends.
My dad for instance.....
He thinks that because he lives in a nice neighborhood he doesnt need to worry about things like this.
I have other friends that think the same way.
This home invasion seems to have happened in a pretty nice area.
Home invasions dont just happen in the projects.....everyone is a target.

Years ago when I had small children all my guns were in one big safe, Now they are not. I suggest everyone else are not in one spot also for multiple reasons. Thats all I will say.

No to sound crazy but every time I answer my door I am completely tuned in, I don't think its something innocent until I can disprove the danger. train as f you life depends on it .Because it will DEPEND ON IT .

No shit after I saw this I was thinking I need to actually ask my wife her thoughts on having a quickly accessible pistol at the ready and I'm researching now a good way to make it happen. I need something I can mount to my desk that is locked and pretty hidden, or something in a hidden shelf, etc. These sobs came in broad daylight "Hey, how is it going boss" and in to terrorize a family.

I also think he reacted well to this. It's such a rare event, so hard to really picture happening that unless you think on it with some regularity I think the odds of completely freezing up are extremely high. "This isn't happening, this can't be happening". I actually wonder if he suffered that still to some degree because based on an article I saw when he was in bedroom he shot and missed the guy. The guy then came at him with a knife and then he shot him again, right? The proper action would have been to mag dump right off the bat. It's possible he was still in a state of disbelief this was really happening. Now this is nitpicking of course. He was a big boy and came out on the first guy aggressively and then back into the house to get it sorted out and he should be very proud at how he handled it.

I never locked anything with My Children and Grandchild. I knew where they were all the time and taught them about guns at a very early age. My Son is a gunner but Daughter and Grandson could care less.

I grew up in a house with guns. Some were kept by the back door, some in a display case upstairs. There wasn't any place *to* lock them up.

We were taught all about them, how to use them, and not to touch them without an adult. We never would have considered "playing" with them.

That is a better answer.

Kids that are safe around guns is a more complete solution than locking guns up.

My grandfather kept multiple loaded firearms around his home and office. The only one I ever knew about was the Ithaca pump behind his office door. Before he passed away he told his sons "There are lots more and they're all loaded. Pay attention cleaning out the house.".

Every one of us grandkids went shooting with granddad and knew better than to tamper with one we might have happened across.

We had loaded guns around too. I knew better than to touch them without permission. Then again, if kids now got an ass whoopin with a leather belt they'd be on the phone to CPS. I took mine with grace. Lmao

Wish I could keep one in the shower. I put the gun I wear around the house on the vanity when I'm in the shower but if someone busts in there I'm toast. Guess it was meant to be then

For when I’m relaxing in the hot tub, I took a standard sized white towel, added Velcro in some spots, and sewed other edges together to make a storage case for my gun.

Perfect to carry to and from, and to lay it next to me with the “open side” facing me, and next to any beverage. No one has a clue. I keep a stainless revolver in it,- usually my SP101 .357.

In the master bedroom bathroom, it’s a stainless 1911 .45 in a holster mounted inconspicuously between the shower and the shitter.
