In a recent 'Active shooter exercise' (about 3 weeks previous) - which took place at a Madison county hospital, - initiated by NYS Police, and involving Sheriff's Dept. and local city police agencies, - the final advice given to hospital admin. by state police was - " If you want your facility to be safe, - first, take down your "NO FIREARMS ALLOWED ON PREMISES" signs, - all these signs mean is that the shooting gallery is open." - Secondly, - "it would be wise for the admins. to survey your employees, determine how many CCW people you have, and ALLOW THEM TO BRING WEAPONS TO WORK WITH THEM, - if your employees are not allowed to carry concealed while working, at least allow them to store their weapons nearby, in their secured lockers, if needed in an actual emergency." - Hospital administrators DID SURVEY some of their 600+ staff to get an idea of how many were gun owners. - It remains to be seen if any changes will come from this.
