Reminds me of the year my daughter got her first deer. We're out, being all quiet and next thing I know she's unfolding a camp chair.
Where did you get that from?
I found it over there
She sits in it and then starts digging around in her backpack. I'm motioning to her to sit still and be quiet. She pulls out a bright red and blue blanket and wraps up in it.
I'm thinking great, we'll have to sit for another hour or more to let things settle down.
She stands up and points - There's a deer! Picks up her rifle and shoots a small doe at about 75 yards through the trees. Right in the throat.

M not sure if these stories are funny, but I have a few.
I was 16 years old and my 16 year old friend and I were going on our first deer hunt.
We had never killed anything bigger than a squirrel.
We both had our brand new, NEVER fired, single shot NEF Pardner 12 gauge shotguns.
We went on my parents land which was about 70 acres.
We walked about 100 yards into the woods where we sat on a log, propped our guns against trees and began eating pizza from crinkley aluminum foil. When my friend was done eating he lit up a Marlboro Red. We were talking and eating and smoking..... Then we hear a stick crack close by. I turned to look over my shoulder and there stood an 8 point buck.....about 20 feet away. He had come from a thicket of red brush. Almost without thinking I grabbed my NEVER FIRED shotgun, leveled and pulled the trigger. The deer immediately crumbled to the ground....dead as a door nail, not a flinch. I realized years later that most deer at least flop around for a minute, but not this guy.
We immediately ran over to the deer and began our celebration!!
Then realized, we had never dressed anything bigger than a squirrel.
My thought was, "its just like a big squirrel".
I got it dressed in a record 45 minutes and we tossed it in the trunk of my Renueult Alliance.
We went straight to my friends house because his dad was a hunter and knew how to process the deer.
His dad was absolutely flabbergasted to say the least.
He could not believe our first deer hunt lasted 10 minutes and ended with a pretty nice buck. To this day the old guy calls me "dead-eye".
The next story happened about 20 years ago.
A different friend and I were Fall turkey hunting on our property, the same area as the first story.
We were sitting with our backs against a tree about 10 feet apart.
This is tough to describe but ill try......
I was sitting to Norms left, with my shotgun pointing to the left.
Norm was sitting with his shotgun pointing to his right.
We had trees behind us, so swinging around to fire would be difficult, we were on our butts against the trees.
We hear something walking up behind us.....it wasn't a turkey, we assumed a deer.
It kept getting closer and closer....
We could not turn to see due to the trees we were sitting against.
So, we waited.......
It got a bit spooky when we realized this thing was going to walk between the trees, which would put the beast about 4 feet from each of us.
Then, a big old boar black bear walked right between us.
The bear looked to its left at me, then to its right at Norm, then looked forward, made a sigh and kept slowly walking down the hill. We did not say a word until the bear was about 50 feet away. It never looked back.
We were both obviously loaded with turkey load and neither of us could have swung around quick enough to fire before the bear was on us.
Luckily the old fella was just sondering along.
We could actually smell the bears breath when it sighed.
I swear it was almost a "damn, you got me" type sigh.

I was just 14 years old , hunting with my brother , dad and one of dad’s friends when my brother and I witnessed this very same thing with my dad and his buddy. My brother and I almost pissed ourselves laughing so hard.about 30 years ago a couple of friends and I went duck hunting. These two guys are in the 6'-3", 275Lb+ range and they are in a 14' canoe.
Me and the other guy were in a 18' John boat. Both vessels were at the edge of a swap with a lake to our backs and about 100 yards apart
A flock of duck come flying out of the swap, both guys in the canoe open up at the exact same time, It was like watching the USS Missouri unload all 9 of her 16" guns from one side, the canoe rolled over, both guns went flying, both guy are in the water searching for there guns, the canoe is upside down, me and the other guy were laughing so hard I thought we would pass out.
we eventually made out way over to them, they were standing in about 5' of water, with their guns over their heads. One of them looks at us and says "what ya think boys, keep hunting, or go get breakfast"
It was about 35° out, so we went and go breakfast

I still saw "If I really wan to kill a Deer, I'll buy a new Truck."
I hit one of the fuckers the other night....$6,970. estimate to repair and they can't get to it until July or August.
The State says they own the Wild Game and demand you obtain Licenses to hunt, yet will accept no responsibility for them when they cause damage unlike the Poor Farmer whose Cow gets out and gets clobbered.
