How can I ignore political threads for example?

Started hating NYF bc of all the political posts. People stopped talking and posting about Guns and posted more about politics.

I'm done with politics. I want to talk Guns. How can Imig ire that whole area so it doesn't show up?

Well, if you're serious about it man I can set you individual permissions to block you from being able to see the Politics section.

That's what got everybody real mad at me for doing as a punishment in the other place. , remember ? Of course it would only work that way when logged in, but I assume if that forum (or 'node' as xenforo calls it) was blocked off to you viewing it then it wouldn't show up in new posts or anywhere else either.

Couple of things, IMO, many times the Political talk has everything to do with guns.

I love talking guns. I have nearly run out of things to bring up in regards to firearms. I wish others would start more threads about them.

Let's be real here. This is s NY gun forum. In NY, politics dictates what guns you can have, what guns are on the chopping block, and who is trying to pass bills or had an agenda to get rid of such guns.

If you truly do not want to see any politics whatsoever, then the firingline forum might be a better choice.

Every state that has AWB laws has home forums loaded with politics. That's the nature of the beast. Go to any forum based out of California, Connecticut, Maryland, and Massachusetts, and they will all be the same as this one.

When politics do not affect someone, they don't talk about it.

I do not mind political posts that have to do with guns. Its the constant bombardment of Hillary/Trump threads that gets old. I come here to relax and chat about my hobbies, guns, food, hunting, booze...etc

I am genuinely baffled. Did I say anything about not wanting to read them? And even if I didn't want to read them, is that such a bad thing. It's pretty simple. Hillary is the devil.... Chuck Norris isn't running so there really is one other option.

Yeah, no kidding we are in NY and politics have plagued our common interest and stomped all over our rights. I've been to the rally's in Albany, Dr Evil and a bunch of us tried getting a action group together which met in my place of business to try and do more for the firearms community... I train and educate NON shooters to become 2A advocates. Do not for one second try and question my commitment to the cause.

I'm not saying for it not to be on the forum anything but guys. I was simply asking if I could block them simply from them appearing on my new post feed. A few others on here asked me the same thing and I figured make it a public question.

The M14 forum blocks everyone from the political forums automatically, you have to request a moderator add the permissions to view them. You will still see the new post message but, when you click on it you get a no permissions to view message. Of course they have to moderate the other forums heavily so political discussions don't end up there. The club house here seems to have a bunch of political threads in it so blocking one forum won't work unless they police the others with an iron fist.

What are you talking about? Method? It isn't a special style or anything. I don't care for reloading, knives, and the picture threads so I do not click on them.

That seems a bit harsh.. instead of just ignoring the posts himself he's asking for a way to block them, which is fine. What if someone posted saying they didn't like hunting and wanted all hunting-related posts blocked? It looks like this forum software is more powerful than VBB (what NYF uses), and maybe they can do something like that. Personally I think asking an Admin to individually block access per-user is a bit much, but BuellSix8 said that wasn't necessary.

I tend to agree on the amount of political posts in 'the other place'.. I wasn't super active over there because there was so many sub-forums I could never keep up. I also realize, like BuellSix8 and others said, unfortunately guns in NYS IS political.. I've convinced a few non-gun people to have a more open mind, but there's a lot of work to do.

Buell no offense meant by my sacrilegious comment. All done in good fun. But this site brings many different people together with many different tastes values interests and opinions. I for one am drawn to those very reasons for being here.
There are many threads that absolutely do not interest me so I just avoid them. I hope that you can find a way to do the same.
