Now back to demographics. It isn’t a racial issue. It’s a people issue. In Japan or Norway for example, a socialist leaning government works because the people work. Here in America, people do not want to work. Many jobs are beneath them. In Japan, the issue doesn’t exist. Their people work with the same level of pride whether they are washing dishes or designing a rocket.
Socialism is anything except pure capitalism or pure communism. Neither of which exist anywhere today, or have ever existed for more than a brief time.So many on this forum and throughout these United States are confused on the laws, customs and governmental systems other Nations have.
Socialism, for example is not always a bad thing. There are many countries in which this style of government works very well.
The arrogance of so many Americans that think our systems and our "freedoms" are the greatest thing next to pre-sliced bread. Some should really do some reading and research how well other Countries really are.
It's a culture thing not a race thing.Correct! So often I get accused of the race thing whilst discussing demographics. It is absolutely a people thing not a race thing.
Socialism is anything except pure capitalism or pure communism. Neither of which exist anywhere today, or have ever existed for more than a brief time.
I prefer to measure how socialist a country is by what % of the economy is controlled by the government.
I also think in general less is better, as long as you have enough to maintain social order and defense.
But before you can discuss "which is better" you must define "better".
The biggest fundamental differences between the left and right all come down to a disagreement about what an ideal society *should* be. It's no wonder they can't agree about how to get there.
Basically, do you prefer equality or prosperity.
While there are some cases where you can improve both, and those are obviously ideal, ultimately you have to choose one over the other.
Equality is actually a miserable way to live. Imagine living in a situation (no matter how comfortable) where you had no control over your own destiny. No matter how good you are or hard you work (or conversely no matter how much you suck and don't work) you will get the same result. That is equality.
Even the socialist idea of utopia would be a terrible place to live, let alone the fact that they can never get it right.
So, that brings us to the 50% or more of people who *don't* really want freedom. And this is real, they may not realize it, but they are scared of having any responsibility for their own destiny. You cannot have freedom without responsibility.
My answer to that is "may your chains rest lightly and posterity forget that you were our countrymen". Obviously people have a right to this life if they choose it, but they don't get to avoid the consequences. The free country will always have superior prosperity, and it isn't reasonable for them to constantly subsidize the people who won't take responsibility for their own destiny.
There are lots of freedoms that people living under even autocratic despots have that Americans don't anymore.Always love reading quotes of our Founding Fathers; especially Adams, his words were before their time...
While talking about Freedoms, so many Americans have no idea what their true freedoms are. In this day and age in which we find ourselves, too many are willing to put them on the back burner.
Even though other nations do not all of our "Rights" and our freedoms, does not make them any less free.
Talk to many foreigners about some of our "freedoms" and they do not get it. They cannot understand because they do not have some of what we have. That does not mean they are less free or lacking happiness in their lives.
I have been to many places around this world and most that I have spoken with are quite happy with what they have and do not miss what they do not have.
Too often, Americans think we have it the best, I beg that differ all of the time.
