Does anyone know the procedure on making an 8+1 semi auto shotgun compliant? My FFL guy I typically deal with has no clue what to do with it..

Your FFL will need to find a way to permanently plug the tube so that it would only accept 7 rounds. Outside of that, It cant have a telescoping or adjustable stock, thumbhole stock, or secondary forward handgrip, or detachable magazine to be SAFE act compliant.

Is there such a plug for the gun? I've asked a dozen people and no one has a clue.. 2 ppl told me you can't have one in NY..

You can make one out of a wooden dowel of the appropriate thickness. The one that Mossberg sells is simply a wooden dowel that is chamfered on both ends so it won't hang up the tube spring. You simply unscrew the magazine cap and insert it.

The grey area is whether it needs to be made permanent or whether it could be transitory or temporary in nature. Such is the nature of the SAFE act. I suppose it could be made semi permanent by a small spot weld on the tube cap that you could file off later down the road if and when you move out of NY to a free state.

Nothing in the law says permanent. A dowel to limit capacity is also what is used for hunting migratory birds. If it makes you feel better put a screw through the end of the extension tube into the dowel so that it requires a tool to be removed. Make sure the dowel has a diamter smaller than the mag spring so the spring can move around it.

No thanks.. I'm a Mossberg guy. Someone I know just mentioned swapping a mag tube from an SPX.. but I'll find out soon

I'd like to bid on a 3 gun shotgun (FN SLP ) online but it comes factory 8+1. I thought the courts tossed the 7 round limit as too abritary . Dont want to bid and win only to be not able to transfer. Not sure I'd find an ffl willing to pull the tube extension off either. But I know I can buy new...
