Well The safe act, along with other States firearm laws, are clearly in conflict with the Bill of Rights and specifically 2A. I never agreed with the idea that a state could create a law that would ban locally something that not ban in many other states and then cost that person their constitutional rights across the country. Simply make everyone a convicted felon and Constitution be damned. No rights for anyone. Pipe dream of course but they're reaching for it.

Imagine making it illegal to protect your personal information from the govt. Doing so would result in a felony. Have a secure messaging app on your phone? Felon. Is it really that far of a stretch from where they are now with 2A? "......the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". No its not.

The Constitution and the Bill of Rights are either supreme or they're not. Time to find out. :beer:

Congress needs to strip lower courts of Constitutional challenges cases and move them directly to the Circuit Courts. If the circuit up holds the law in question it can simple go directly onto the docket for the SCOTUS. That would speed things up tremendously.

When they allowed lower courts to hear these of which no final verdict could possibly be achieved, it caused these cases to move at a snails pace through the system. All by design. :beer:

This was originally introduced in 2017. It was brought back into light in 2022, and now again in 2025. I was hopeful for this too, but after a little digging, I don't think much will come of this.

It's just another self serving politicians. The effort, while commendable, is simply pandering to a base of voters. In her case, republicans.

The problem is I do not see any other reps from other states putting forth bills to help out ban states.

"Just move away from your family and job and place that you call home," they say as if it's that simple. Because they're just like the fudds. They got theirs, so they don't care about the rights of others being trampled on.

So until I see that, till I see some patriotism come across state lines, I'm not holding my breath on this.

How would this speed anything up when the Circuit Courts AND the SCOTUS also participate in slow-walking any 2A cases?

I seriously doubt there is any possibility to restore NY'ers rights via legislation. If it were to move forward, by some miracle, it would be caught up in courts, given to known anti-gun judges, or just plain stalled in the judicial process for decades.

We need arrests. These states that infringe need to be shown that this behavior is not without repercussions.
Unfortunately we, yet again, have a DoJ and Fed AG with no balls...figuratively AND literally.

She's trying but it has 0.0% chance of passing.

The state is a lost cause for gun rights.

We need SCOTUS or a FED agency to punitively pursue rogue state governors and legislators that actively subvert citizens rights in regards to the 2a. That's the only hope we have in NY is if the Feds slap NY.

Speed it up relative to where it is today.

I know of no law where a elected judge can be arrested and convicted strictly for a decision. Now if you can connect that decision to a someone who influenced that decision through some form of communications, then that could be a way. But not for kicking it up the courts.

What laws would are you calling for to be used in these arrests?

THIS IS THE CRUX OF THE SNOPES CASE.................. now at Scotus.............in conference for a trial date.............sends a message to the Court to decide it.

Scotus just ruled, that Semi autos are not machine guns, in the Vanderstock case............a clear message that the Snopes case may be scheduled.

Not talking about arresting the Judge. Talking about arresting heil hochul and every damn one of the NY legislature who voted to infringe our rights. Sorry for the confusion.
The judges, however, who seem incapable of understanding the Constitution or even just following precedent set by the S.C., should be disbarred, at a minimum.

Both judiciary committees can subpoena any judge to be question. If those committees determine the judge acted in bad behavior they can refer an impeachment vote. These same committees can change the scope of cases to be heard in districts. All the courts powers come from Congress. Except of course the Supreme Court where its powers are derived from the Constitution.

Time to see what Republicans are made of. :beer:
