Hunting boots

i noticed my boots split at the seam this weekend. I was tippy toeing it to try to walk quieter and I’m sure that’s what did it. What do you guys have for cold weather hunting.
I was looking at Irish setter elk hunters in 800 gram thinsulaye, but they are $230.00. If they are good and that’s what I need I’ll pay it, but if some one has a better sugestion I’m all ears.

I think this is what I bought at the Lockport Outdoor Store. Dont think I paid $230 but they weren't cheap. They did not hold up well. Separation on the outer leather. I wouldn't buy again.

The bearclaws were great traction & comfort wise , but the soles came "unglued" from the boot on both pairs I had. No more Rockys for me.

Kick ass boots bought them in Sept for a 100 bucks through amazon. They are light, comfortable and warm. Well made.

We're they the stitched soles like these, I've never had a problem with these. I will never buy those boots from any company that has the glued soles.

I have a pair of these too. I use them mostly for cod fishing. They are fine if you are on your feet all day but not the best for a lot walking.

Rocky’s seem to get horrible reviews and the much boots seem to get mixed reviews.
Wow this is harder than I thought.

I was looking at some dinner boots and the lacrosse insulated muck boots seem to get good reviews too.

Snow boots with removable felt liners and soft soles so you can feel the sticks before you break them.

yup, same boots. Those stitches do not go to the soles , just the bottom of boot.

I have a pair of Danner pronghorn similar to that. 400g. They are borderline too much info for me.

Another thought... consider how much your feet sweat.

I like the muck boots, my kids and brother have the high boots, I like the shorter ones.
I pay $100 from mine at a local gun shop, cabelas charges $129 for them.
I will snap a picture of them later and add it to this post.
I have been wearing these boots for three years, I wear them everyday all year long. They wear holes in the heal from everyday use, but break the cost down it is about $9 a month for a comfortable waterproof boot.
They are very comfortable from day one.

I might buy a pair of the waterproof winter boots with the heavy felt liners next deer hunting season if I will be sitting on stand all day and if it will be cold like the sub-zero weather we had this deer season.
My vote is for the Muck Boots.

I have a pair of these also,,,I use them for 4 wheeling,,,to heavy for walking while I'm hunting,,,,thats why I bought those Danner boots in the post above. Muck boots are great but not a fan of them when it comes to a lot of walking.

I have a pair of the LaCrosse packs with the thick felt liners. I hate them, like having a couple lead ingots tied on my feet, and they if your not walking around wearing your legs out they don't keep my feet very warm either.
I hat to buy shoes through the mail but I can't find anything locally.

I used to be a Rocky Bear Claw fan but switched to rubber Mucks and never looking back.No worry's about leaks there light and warm,worth every penny IMO.Have the woody maxes for years and upgraded to a newer pair/version a couple years ago,cant go wrong with any you buy though just never tried any other brand for any opinions on them.

I think I’ll get a nice pair of those muck boots then. I went to cabelas and it was Really picked over so I bought a cheap pair of red head 100 gram thinsulate boots. They were $60.00. I figured I can’t go wrong with them. They are comfortable, but a bit on the heavy side. I’ll buy something nicer in spring or next fall. I just didn’t have the cash right now and nothing they had was anywhere close to that warm. It’s supposed to be 20 this weekend. Staying warm was my number one priority.

I will take a pair of the Muck boots back there next trip and leave them there for my next trip.
I have regular cloths and hunting cloths that I leave there in New Yorkistan for deer season or any other time I come back instead if bringing them there and back home.
I brought a old aluminum frame back pack out there this year for hauling out a deer if it was shot to.far in to drag it out of the woods and left it there. I filled it with stuff that I wanted to leave there and brought back 30 pounds of deer meat in a new ice chest from Walmart.
