I’m flying in December and thought about taking my pistol. I’m going to AZ, but I’m assuming this is no longer allowed and I’d be arrested on site correct?
I wish you luck. Unfortunately it's going to take someone getting popped with these bullshit laws to get them overturned. Someone that is retired or has enough time on their hands to fight needs to take one for the team. I'd volunteer but I need to work to keep a roof over my kids heads.I'm flying into Syracuse in a couple of weeks with a Glock 19 and 44, I'll let you know how it goes.
That’s not an option in this case. You could fly out of PA or OH. Fuck NY.
Wow!! How do they know you have a gun in your car? Do the cops ask and stupid people admit well yeah I have one, wanna see?Not sure how that will go when I fly back to NY, but I’m concerned obviously since I still have my NY CCW (for all that it is now worth…)
Interestingly enough, down here at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport (which is located in the city limits of liberal Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, NC), the local DA is sufficiently anti-gun that he has prosecuted people who have been found to be carrying while just driving someone to the airport! Forget in the terminal outside TSA checkpoints,- he has gone after people even just carrying in their cars on airport property while picking up or dropping off passengers.
In fact, it has gotten bad enough that the local media has been reporting on it, and the legal profession has been running ads for lawyers to represent those who get jammed up by that.
When I go to the airport here, I only bring a firearm if it is in my checked bag, ready to fly with it. Nothing like asshole liberal DA’s who don’t follow federal law.
My understanding in NYS Uber and Lyft are a no carry zone now.Not certain, but I am guessing that since open carry is legal here, that when someone got out of their car to wish their girlfriend goodbye and was spotted by the cops, - and charged.
Believe it or not, seeing people open carry here is not all that uncommon.
My concern in flying to an NY airport would be that I have to pick up my checked bag with a firearm at the BSO (baggage security office) down at baggage claim, and it is tagged as having a firearm. I suppose one aggressive cop could follow me outside and arrest me?
The sad thing is, if you are flying to a strange city, and want to arm up before you go outside baggage claim and get into a vehicle with a complete stranger, what are you to do? If you go into the bathroom stall and load up, now you are carrying. Or, do you get in that Uber or cab, and ask them to drive off the airport grounds and stop so you can unpack it and begin carrying? It is beyond stupid.
Rental cars are not public transportationWhen I drove for Uber & Lyft in Buffalo, they would threaten to remove drivers who carried from working. Nevertheless, my twin 9’s Rosie & Louise went everywhere with me.
So, let me guess: under Hochul’s CCIA, is carrying in an Uber, Lyft, a cab, or other public transport such as a bus or train now a felony? What about a rental car?
But why if they don’t have a CCW sign up? I’m just playing devils advocate here posting things that come to my mind and how complicated this is.Rental cars are not public transportation
I see your point, but then to get around this law all I have to do is separate my gun and my mag and just carry them in a lock box into a store, park, or insert whatever you want and I’m not breaking the law then?If you have a pistol in your checked bag, you are not technically "concealed carrying " it. There should be no issue.
Thanks. I guess I missed that in the FAQ’s.I am flying out for a match at the CMP range next week, Some of the NYS FAQ forms that have been floating around explained if your following tsa/federal guidelines you are OK
To follow up, had no issues. Picked up my bag and left...have been carrying everywhere. FUNY.I'm flying into Syracuse in a couple of weeks with a Glock 19 and 44, I'll let you know how it goes.
