Yea, that too. It would be easier if I could check them out in hand. I found one I liked, and the first review was something about how it broke immediately. That was a Vortex. I want a W & E graduated reticle, like a mil-dot, but some are way too cluttered. It is definitely a process.

I do some coyote hunting, and those ranges are longer. First, from what I read. Not really a well schooled on optics. Learning as I go....

If you hunt coyotes at night I would go second focal plane. Reticle can get lost at night if they are too thin or small.

For me, I use a first focal plane optic on my current deer rifle but I picked something with a illuminated reticle for closer range.

No first focal plane reticle will change size when dialing the magnification ring. Better than I can explain below lol

You bet! A $750 scope for $400! I will go for that! Hopefully there is nothing wrong with it. Just have to get bases and rings, and some little extras and it will be a complete package for what I want it for. I got a super deal on the rifle and the scope, so I am good with the combo.

Congrats on the 700P! there are certainly a lot of upgrade options to suit your needs. I have been down the Remington 700 rabbit hole before and ultimately wish I would have done things differently. The best advice i can give you is to buy quality glass, and leave everything else stock. A good optic is the most crucial part of the equation. Shoot the absolute piss out of it, and figure out what's working and what isn't. after you have a couple thousand rounds through it, make decisions on what you want differently. Congrats, and get out and shoot!

All told, I am in at just under $1000 for everything you see. I like it. I will be leaving the stock alone, as the bottom metal has the hinged floor plate and I rather like the look as it is.
