I Have Turned Progressive

I have been using two single stage presses for years.
Finally made the switch to a Progressive Press.
I bough the Lee Pro 1000. It was delivered on Thursday. I spent Friday and Saturday setting it up and getting used to it. Loading my PPC 38 Wad Cutters.
I just wish I had more of a crimp.
Anyway I got 250 completed with another 1000 or so to go.
Should have made the switch years ago.
I will still use the single stage for precision loads but I really do like the Progressive.

I want to get into a Dillon progressive press (mostly for handgun but maybe for rifle too) in the near future. It's just tough with apartment living. Congratulations on the upgrade!

Please give us a status update in a bit. I have been thinking about changing up myself. Question is Lee or Dillon, everthing I have now is by Lee.

Congratulations! I've got 3 Pro1000s. The funnel top to load brass into the feed tubes is the best money you'll spend as an upgrade.

The weakest points are the primer feeder and the plastic ratchet gear that adjusts the shell plate. Get a couple of those gears incase you strip it out.

Also, dry lube is awesome for keeping everything slick without getting oil where you don't want it. And it doesn't attract gunk.

More crimp? Using the Lee factory crimp? Thought the Lee crimp was the best possible?

Pro1000 only has 3 stations. There's no room for a seperate crimp die.

I'm using a Lee Loadmaster. I wanted to get a Dillon XL650. But, I didn't have the necessary height (in my very limited space). Priming is certainly the weakest link. Plus, even with the Lee Auto Drum as my powder dropper, load charges vary more than I'd like. So, for practice target ammo, it'll do. For match grade target ammo, no way.

I've loaded 45acp, 9mm, and 380acp for several years. I'm about to start with .223 (using off-press priming, of course).

I never made the switch to Dillon, I learned on RCBS and when O went Progressive I got the Piggy back 2 and 3 for my Rock Chuckers, then I bought the Pro 2000 a pure progressive press. I put my piggybacks back in the box and only use the pro 2000 for pistol rounds. I use the rock Chuckers for everything else.
