I can see the first video happening at my house because it’s a very nice house. I always get those letters from the utility company telling me I use more electric than all my neighbors do and to call them to reduce my use. It’s because my house is bigger you morons and I have central air conditioning.
Although I would have to step away from the windows for a few minutes to get more guns.

With what limited ability I have to scope out what’s going on as a trucker, it’s not mass hysteria. Things are going on as usual, and despite my earlier thread on carrying a scattergun in my truck, I have no reservations in saying it’s ok. In the last few weeks, I have been in TX up to MN and WI, over to PA and VA. The mask thing is the only thing I feel troubles over.

I think a reasonable argument could be made they were in fear of their lives. They were trying to leave, they were being pursued by a mob and were increasingly being assaulted by baseball bats (deadly weapons) all while being blinded by high lumen flashlights. They weren't being allowed to leave.
They would have every reason to think they were being targeted and their lives were in danger.
It's just a matter of time until they push the wrong person on the wrong day and multiple people get mowed down.
Yea tough call but at the end of the day I think you would be justified in doing what you must. Once you blast the first one the rest will scatter like roaches.

If attacked by a mob like this I think I might get more than a couple before the others react and flee.
I was taught that in a multiple attacker scenario everyone gets a first helping before anyone goes back for seconds.
I expect it would take many of them several seconds to process the change in their tactical situation and make the decision to flee, and then a few more seconds for those actions to become apparent to anyone else. I can put several rounds on target in several seconds.
Lately when out and about I am usually accompanied by my wife, who is also armed and has some excellent professional training. While she is not as proficient as I am, I expect she would put a couple rounds on target in that situation too.
I can only imagine the shitstorm that would turn into in the news, but better to be on the front page than the obituary column.
I am certainly *not* going to just shoot one guy and then wait to see if the others drop their weapons or beat me to death.
Once it becomes apparent that they are no longer a threat I will disengage and escape though. I'm not dumb enough or emotional enough to pursue.
They did the right thing in retreating. What if some of the bad guys were armed? You shooting escalates the situation. You are way outnumbered and will loose the shootout badly. Just shows you how difficult of a decision it is in real life.

Interesting video, because those four guys could have done some damage if they had decided to. Disarm the fat guy with the bat, now they have a bat and they are friends, so going to stick together more than strangers. Too bad not even one of them had a knife.
Also every state needs to immediate make it clear that lasering somebody's eyes is considered attempt to blind and a nice little felony for them.

Don't mention, blinding certainly qualifies as "serious bodily harm".
Legally speaking, a threat doesn't have to be deadly for deadly force to be a justified response. A threat of a crippling injury is enough. Certainly permanent blindness is that.
Now that's not to say that I recommend shooting one of these guys just for lasering you. It's going to cost a lot of money, but a good lawyer could get you acquitted.

I know it sounds good but you aren't the only one out there with a gun and a poke with a stick is a lot different than a beating with one. If you decide to shoot it out 5 on 1 you're gonna have a bad day. In this case they continued to retreat and everyone made it home safely.
To add: Taking "an offensive stance" will get you a quick conviction in court. You must retreat if able and in this situation there was a clear path of retreat. You MUST run away if the path exists.

They were only sure it existed after the fact. One guy was knocked over and somebody was prodding them with a baseball bat while the crowd continued to chase them down and not without initiating its own violence. In a scenario like that it's only one fool away from whacking you in the head and you're a vegetable for a few months until your family pulls the plug.
I get it but you have the duty to retreat and they had forward motion and a path. Just saying. I don't agree with it but I don't make the rules.
That's the exact scenario where "duty to retreat" is bullshit. They were leaving but the assholes kept pushing and hitting them. The problem with turning your back and leaving is that you don't know if they'll shoot or stab you while you walk away. These scumbags proved they will attack you from behind. Once they were attacked while leaving they no longer have a duty to retreat.
Nobody(well most of us)wants to get into a shootout but if you're being attacked from behind or with a deadly weapon some people would take the chance to defend themselves even if some of the attackers have guns. At least then you have a chance instead of getting it from behind and not taking any of them with you.

That is what I was wondering. Best course of action is to just avoid a mob unless they push into your turf. Every bit of advice I have seen from expert military and leo on YouTube says avoid avoid avoid.. pay attention and avoid. Only if your cornered and not given a choice do you act. Head on a swivel these days when in an area where something like this can happen.

You have in NY the duty to retreat if you can. If you're disabled obviously you cannot outrun somebody who isn't. As for these guys they were trying to retreat...Who is to say they could all have outrun the entire crowd? They were retreating and being picked off. There is nothing in the law that says that as long as you can maintain some degree of forward movement you should do so, even if you continue to be attacked while doing it.

They had a clear way out and they took it. Everyone lived to see another day. I don’t recall seeing “if you can” in A35. Either way it’ll come down to perception and if the DA/ Grand Jury sees a clear path in front of you it’s not going to go over well. Not only do you not want to make a stand, you legally cannot.
