.338 Win Mag
I ran across a carbine model today in really nice shape. What's the opinions on them? Any good for more than a collector's rifle?

Springfield 1896, aka 30-40 Krag? Rifle has a rep for very smooth action, but technically mechanically weak, meaning go easy with hand load max powder levels. 30-40 Krag is adequate for anything in the lower 48, standard load is 220 gr round nose.

I decided to pass on it, thanks anyway. It is a good looking rifle though, and definitely is very smooth.
It was a cold year, the days were bleak.
