Opinion | I used to think gun control was the answer. My research told me otherwise.

More importantly the people who need to read it won't and/or won't believe. Here are the undeniable facts of guns and "gun violence":

-More people die from car accidents, drowning in swimming pools, and by getting beaten to death with hands and feet than by guns.
-Most gun deaths are suicides that would have been carried out even if a gun was not available.
-For the remainder of gun deaths they are almost entirely attributed to inner city gang turf wars and drug cartels.
-Cosmetic features like pistol grips and collapsible stocks do not make a weapon more deadly. They merely make them look different from "traditional" hunting guns.
-Mass shootings, as horrific as they are, are outliers. Their definition has been so bastardized by the media (just like the term "assault weapon") that it is essentially meaningless in frank policy conversations.
-More so-called mass shootings occur in "Gun Free Zones" than anywhere else.
-And perhaps most important of all, name one other Constitutionally enumerated right that has as many restrictions placed on it as the Second Amendment.
