I want a new semi-auto - 9mm compact/pocket?

I know Gen 1 P239 SAS was available in DA/SA but I wanted the fancy finish one with the pretty grips, in 9mm and I never saw one that didn't have that stupid trigger...

I might have to walk back some of this and wind up with two (and contradict myself).

1. PCR, P01, or P239/P225A1 depending on pricing and availability (mayyyyybe a Glock but I doubt it) for carry / hop out the back door

2. P238 for the drawer; I have shot it, I do shoot it well, and my wife (who has some neuro-muscular issues) could shoot / access it, too.

Does "status: our of stock" = because they don't just have them sitting on the shelf because custom, or because they don't have any to even make, though?

I have thought about sending them the 75 for the defense or pro work up. I didn't actually know the price point for the ones you linked as I hadn't looked at them really. Thanks for the links, @Edwardteach72.

And as for the pro packages. I have added I'd say 50% of the pro package to my P-07 and that alone was like night and day. Not to mention the owner of CGW has a whole thread on how to polish the trigger on the cz forum. Super class act dude, real stand up guy

CGW does also have a +$1,000 version as well. But again everything I've read. An CGW or maybe even a CZC is worth every penny and will feel better than any other options in the same price range or even $500 more..

A friend of mine recently wanted the same thing as you....a pocket gun for walking the dogs.
After handling alot of guns he went with......are you ready.........SCCY CPX2.
Nooooo, not the CPX 1.......the much improved CPX2.
After about 700 or so roynds he loves it, no issues at all.
Plus, it cost $250.
Its a small double stack 10 round 9mm and is DA.
Just a thought.

Occasionally Keeley on Gunbroker will have NOS P238HD for 400. These are heavier stainless steel frames and recoil like a pellet gun with thin wood or thinner g10 grips and like a bb gun with wider Hogue rubber grips. They are a few ounces heavier in the pocket but a fun shooter and beautiful gun. For the past two years they keep popping up at half the price of the same but cosmetically different P238 Spartan. Even if you get a 300 to 400 P238 alloy frame, the cheap Houge rubber grips noticeably soften an already mild shooter. In fact, you may be able to tolerate a snsppy 9mm P938 tamed with Houge rubber grips. That's my BUG.

I have a CZ 75 BD (9mm full size) as my bedside, alongside a long gun and a Fenix PD-35 flashlight.

What I'd like is something smaller I can secure in a drawer down in the main living area for taking the dog out late at night, etc, and not have to go up, pull the CZ, put it back afterward. I do usually have a vaquero-style holster on my belt when home, but I don't generally sit around with a full size 9 in it.

I'd like to pick up something that's a bit (or a good deal) smaller than the CZ, preferably metal, hammer fired DA/SA (decocker instead of safety would be a bonus), with a similar manual of arms. At some point I'll be upgrading my permit to full carry and I don't think I'll want to haul my full size 75 around with a couple extra mags.

Generally this leads me to the CZ PCR and P01, or the SIG P228/229 in 9mm. I am a bit recoil sensitive in handguns (which I'm working on) and I'm not a huge fan of 1911's so not terribly interested in the Kimber 9 or the SIG 938 for design or size in this caliber (I do like my mother in law's 238 but I'm not looking at .380 here).

My first choice would be the CZ PCR as it's the exact same pistol as the 75 BD but every time I've looked at them they're back ordered like a year. I'm leaning P-01 or p228/229.

Anything else I should look at?

Since you own the CZ 75, you understand how nice CZs are.
