Wanna guess how I know you don't have any Amish living near you?Not in NY!
That is pretty ingenious. Amish around me use generators and just plug all their saws into it. I dont judge the Amish way of life I work with them a lot, but it kills me they won't do electricity, but will run multiple generators burning 15 gallons of gas a day to run electric tools. And yes..I can confirm they hunt all year round..and that they dont get hunting licenses.Laws are just general guidelines.

(I saw a picture of an Amish chop saw. Can't find it again, but it was like this one)

Same with them and fishing. They have decimated some lakes and this is now why there is the big pan fish rule in NYS. They almost fished out silver lake and bear lake by me from what I hear. They keep everything. My friend has had a hunting cabin in the southern tier for decades. His family and friends hunted up there every year. All kinds of deer.
Past few years there's been slim pickins and my buddy hasn't taken one in 2 years.....and he's been hunting for 30+, never going a year without at least one.
Multiple Amish families moved on his road a few years ago. Just sayin.
Went on a fishing trip to Lake Chatuaqua last June. Watched a pontoon full of them bringing in fish. Didn't see one get thrown back.Same with them and fishing. Not surprised. Now that lake will be depleted and then fishing will suck for me and my son. They will also now make it so you need to be 8” for sunfish and bluegill and 10” for crappie. I keep about a dozen perch per ice fishing season and maybe 5-6 sunfish or bluegills. I also keep 2-3 walleye a year and a steelhead. I get why they keep more fish than me and I’m fine with it but it’s absurd that they keep everything they catch and many undersized.Went on a fishing trip to Lake Chatuaqua last June. In my experience, it has to do with where they live. The hunting camp I go to is in the southern tier, where there's a pretty healthy Amish population but an almost complete dearth of law enforcement. I've been hunting there for over 30 years, three seasons a year, and I've never seen a DEC officer. Or a cop car, even.how can they get away with NO license....Hell just walking near a stream with my kids back years ago a dec office would start zapping us with questions.......on MANY occasions...its like my god...... but whatever...
there always seems to be the exceptions to every rule/law.
