I took her to the range today. I am very happy with it, and it doesn't look as bad as I thought once in the light. The rust is only on the forward 3 inches of the barrel and tube. There's two small spots that look to be pitted. One of my goood range buddies who is much more knowledgeable than me gave it a once over and was impressed.

Here's my targets. Shot the right side first, elbows on the bench, 50 yards iron sights. Left target was once I got comfortable with it. I'm very happy. One hole above the left target is mine, everything else off the pasties was already there.

Picked up a new rifle for the right price. Lol

Marlin 336RC .30-30, 1955 vintage. Little rust up front but other than that, mint. One of the guys at work is going to look at it and should be able to fix the rust. The action is crisp, brand new. I can't believe how it operates. This was a real score. The story is a secret though, sorry.
