Philmont, New York – On September 3, 2019, the New York State Police from the Livingston barracks arrested Samuel C. Wright, age 30, of Philmont, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree, a class D felony.

On September 2, 2019, Troopers were dispatched to a structure fire on Main Street in Philmont. After the flames had been extinguished by Philmont and Claverack Fire Departments, a Keltec sub 2000 assault weapon :fuac: :nutkick:

ON another note they may be taking inventory cuz they are thinking what to steal?! My in laws live near Utica NY and they have a flooded basement years AGO and had the town volunteer fire dept come in to help pump it out and my Father in law was one of the good old timers. he has the rack in the basement with his shotguns and lever guns and that just hanging there...not loaded and no ammo around its just where he stored them...been there forever never knew better never gave it second thought really. The safe was for important paperwork not GUNS...

After they left....a couple days or a week later they discovered many a long guns were missing!!!! some valuable ones too but more importantly his favorite deer gun was gone! Given to him by his dad!! That was a sin. I dont know if they ever reported it or anything but as they said...with all those guys in and out of their raised ranch home and long coats......it woulda been easy and indeed happened.

Ever since then I think if they had a fire they would not call the fire dept. As even since my FIL death their is a still a 30:30 on that rack and an old 10 guage. Which Ive never heard of but yeah a 10 Guage shotgun my nephews uses.

NO ammunition around in fact all ammo is now in by BIL safe so even if someone wanted their is no ammo even in that house to go to those guns. LOL

But. every so often we talk that we should put in the safe but again thats all paperwork so their like BIG liberty 30 gun save has no room for a GUN!!!

Gotta clean it out!! Which has been started....

I guess leave it to the fire dept to know what someone has as I think ( since that incident) they are human and inherently theives......sorry that should not be said... they were tempted too much. Altimately family fault for having them their and not locked up.

So overall it does not surprise me.........

The bad news is, you lost everything in the fire, the worse news is, you're under arrest.
I don't understand why all the company's making money from the gun industry and all their associated entities all the way down to the gun shop's, don't take all the money they dump on the NRA, form a legal consortium to fight this kind of travesty in court, the NRA doesn't seem to give a crap.

Moral of the story. If you have a rifle hidden away in the attic or the walls, put a mag lock device on it just in case. Also use plastic PMags instead of aluminum ones so they can melt away.

Oh. And don’t store unregistered 1911’s either. If you are going to store an unregistered pistol, make sure it’s a Glock regardless if you like them or not.

Was this crime reported? Random people don't just show up and go to work at a fire. The Incident Commander should be able to name every Fire person on the scene, and specifically who operated in that room. This is a crime that fire departments don't take lightly.

That guys life is doubly ruined.

Again, another example of the wrong circumstances leading to a BS safe act arrest and ruined lives for something that is legal in almost every other state. This needs to go to SCOTUS already.

save everyone some grief and just shoot the guy now. apparently losing everything isn't punishment enough. Better throw him in jail too, just to make an example of him

Pretty sure he's got a good chance of beating the rap,but he shouldnt have to.I think the firemen may be taking an undeserved beating in this.If he had ammo,which I assume he did and the fire set the rounds off,the firemen probably have to report it to the cops on the scene,they should have used discretion and let the poor bastard alone,his house just burned down fer chrisake.
