I never understood the whole panic thing. So you have 3 rifles, 4 pistols, and 1 shotgun. Why should you panic and buy another pistol? If things get bad is the extra pistol going to tip the scales for your survival?

About the only thing I can see that makes sense is the purchase of ammo if you are running low. But who here only has 2 boxes of ammo per caliber? Nobody does. I would bet most of us have at the very minimum a thousand rounds per caliber. Why go bananas buying more? If the SHTF do you really think that you will fire tens of thousands of rounds?

You are better off spending that money on non perishable foods.

For a lot, I think it's more about getting something you've wanted to get but haven't, before you cannot anymore. Or the fear there of. Not about tipping the scales in your favor in a survival situation.

If it was a grandfathered gun, then yes. But most here buy another pistol or another lower that has to be neutered with a fixed mag. I just don’t get it.

Well, for instance, let's say there is a bill to ban all semi-automatics on Trump's desk. I'm gonna go and buy that semi-auto rifle, shotgun or pistol I've been eyeing. Or if I don't have a semi-auto anything, I'm going to go buy what I can before Trump signs that bill into law. Even if said gun is neutered because of prior laws.

And I should add that whatever would have to be grandfathered if purchased before the law went into effect. Otherwise you are talking about mass confiscation or forced buy back. Same thing really.

I remember that whole 4 or 5 years after the Sandy Hook shooting, when I felt like I was lucky if I found a box of .22 ammo on a store shelf, when there were conspiracy theories about when the Walmart deliveries would get put out, when some of my local shops would only sell you ammo in certain calibers if you bought a gun from them, when if you didn't have powder or primers you weren't going to get powder and primers.

I had a nice little stock pile that got me through without impacting my shooting hobby. Now I have nicer stockpile.

Recently bought an AK and then bought an AR (my first) about a week and a half or so ago. I was planning on the AR but was in no hurry to make the purchase; that was until the anti-gun hysteria caused by politicians, running for the presidency, exploded after the latest mass shootings. On Saturday, I had three high bids on items at the Hessney auction; I am hoping they are in at least VG condition to EX since I bid online. Need to order ammo but have to get my finances a bit straightened out before I do that. What I am doing is hoping to avoid the panic I am pretty sure is coming before the election and God forbid after the election should a Democrat gain the top office.

I "stock up" to save money, prices rarely go down, and to make sure if I want to go shooting I have plenty enough to go and take my son or someone else.
I just bought some .223's at $300 a case, remember the sky high prices of the obozo years?
