I own my very first gun, a little red plastic clicker cowboy pistol, and it hangs in my gun safe.

At this point in time, at least in NY, it would likely get you "Red Flagged" for them to do a search and seizure of all your guns.

Well if you're cops are anything like the cops in my country the reason for a bill like this is because 99% of them are inept assholes who can't tell the difference between a real firearm and one that's not.
In some of our States we even have appearance laws so you put a bolt action rifle in a chassis with a Pistol Grip it's manned because those dumb f****** idiots can't tell the difference between that and an ar
