Impossible to get Saratoga County Permit??

So I'm trying like hell to get my pistol permit for my employment and I'm STILL trying to figure the damn application, order in which everything is to be done, when and where to do what, when and where to get all of these notary things done. It seems to me that they have made it impossible to get an application even completed with all of the other paperwork needed and running around to who knows where. Has anyone else had this much trouble?? I called the Sheriff's dept and the county clerk to get info and ask about how to get records and I got basically no help or info. Has something changed that I'm not aware of??? I'm about ready to just throw the damn paperwork out and forget about it.

Not sure what you do for work but I bet someone in the office is a notary. If you don’t mind them knowing what you’re up to that is.

I know it looks and sounds overwhelming, but the best thing you can do is just get to work on it. I put my application off because it sounded like a pain in the ass. I waited about a year from the time I got the application packet until I took the class. Then I waited another 6 months after that to get it submitted. Trust me. It's worth it in the end. Just get started on it TODAY.

I've been bugging a coworker for well over a year. He has most of it done but is too lazy to keep pushing through. He could have had the permit long ago had he not sat on his duff!

I remember the day I got my permit in the mail- I felt like a kid waking up on Christmas. Immediately I went to pick up the SR9 I had to buy 6 months prior. I had to write quite a lengthy essay to the Judge explaining my youthful offenses, and in the end it was approved. About 2 years later I took the class to remove the hunting and target restrictions. In Saratoga county you can take the class after a year of having your permit. Over the years I've tried to encourage people to get theirs and some have but most haven't. It's a shame we have to jump through these hoops but once it's done you're all set. (for 5 years)

So putting that aside. Save the drama for your mama, and get it done. there are no big hurtles there, Unless you have some problems from the past. That is when it becomes a major pain in the ass to get all of the dispositions

That is what I'm running into. Nothing major at all and both were dismissed. I'm finding it tough as hell to obtain the info I need which even that I'm unsure of what they are looking for on the application. It's like "date ... disposition ... disposition .. .. disposition ...... disposition". I'm just really confused. I called one place doing the class and they said I had to have everything pretty much ready to turn in. I'm not even close and frankly, haven't started it because I just don't know where to start. I thought I'd have gotten answers from the Sheriff's office but that proved to be a big zero. I get what others are saying and maybe there is some truth to making it harder for those to get one, so I will push forward ... although the shifter seems to be stuck in neutral .. which is why I'm pushing. Fucking Ford!!!

I was also having trouble with some dates, eventually I did a background check on myself to be sure of the dates and dispositions. I even listed some other minor encounters with police which didn't end in tickets, arrest or charges. For those instances I was pretty general with the dates. (summer of 2000... etc.) The goal to be as forthcoming as possible and I think it probably went a long way in the end.
After the application was submitted, they had someone from the department call and ask a few additional questions about my letter, so my guess is if they were looking for more information they would reach out to you.

Oh yeah... on the background check- the DCJ in Albany sent me someone else's background report and sent mine to that other person. I was pretty pissed, and I never got a good explanation.

Can’t be worse than Westchester County. The best thing to do is take the NRA class and usually the guy teaching it does the applications for extra $$. That what I did. I paid the guy and extra 50 and he did all the paperwork for me. Getting the stuff notarized was easy. In Westchester even your references have to be notarized! They are only going to make it worse down the pike, get it now while you can.
