Looks like he started shooting in the parking lot. At that point, the security check-in becomes pretty useless. So he simply walked in the facility and continued. Fed Ex has a Gun Free Zone policy. So even the security service is unarmed.

Guard without a gun is as useless as a Whitehouse without a president.
