Hey guys, my name is Adriena, I would like to ask you for a favour and on your opinion. Honestly, I started work with guys who are developing an electronic target system. It is inteligent, saves time and it is affordable. Its called TrainShot. I am a hobby shooter and I think its amazing. But I would like to know your opinion if you would like to try someting like this or you prefer "old school" shooting without any innovation. Please note, this is not an ad, I really want to know your suggestions as from professionals. I would appreciate every single answer and opinion. Thanks a lot

If you don't want to get treated like a scam artist, maybe you could introduce yourself and contribute to the community before you try and sell crap.

Phauxtoe, thanks for interest, tell me something about you, your prefessional career, if you are influncer, how big is your audience and maybe I decide to send you some targets I wanted to know a serious opinion if professional audience like this kind of products, innovation in shooting field, etc. We have some reviews from shooters, but more opinions are always better

I have never found electronic targeting systems as effective, this looks like no exception to that rule. What I find more helpful is dry firing in front of a mirror while videoing the session. That actually shows you what you are doing wrong and how you are progressing.

Thanks for an advice I publish to this kind of forum for the first time, so appologize me if I didnt proceed according to your strict procedures. My name is Adriena, I am 26, I am from Slovakia (Americans dont know where it is, so Central Europe), I am animal lover, hobby shooter, I had a cat called Eron. I work for a company which develops hardware and software solutions in aviation. My colleague developed TrainShot as his hobby and I decided to ask a professional audience for their opinion, if people would like this kind of products. I am not trying to sell it or advertise it. I was at IWA 2018 in Nurnberg in Germany with TrainShot and people really liked this "crap".

Mosinitis, thanks a lot for first serious reply. I will try to post in a specialized forum. The reason why I posted i general forum is that TrainShot is actually for pistols, but also for rifles. We shot to TrainShot targets also with AK47, guys are preparing anthenna for snipers. TrainShot electronic unit is protected by Hardox shield and polycarbonate shield. But thank you for your reply, really appreciate it.

dsdmmat, thank you for your honest answer, I really appreciate it. Training in front of mirror definitely helps, no doubt. But TrainShot saves time, you dont have to move your target all the time or watch to binocular or re-sticking your target.. (if we talk about training at shooting range or some training centre).

The old way is either pull the targets down into the pits and score them or walk to the targets to score them and walk back to the firing line. Both are time consuming, that's why electronic targets are being implemented into the sport. It saves time and work.

"Electronic Trainers" are used to simulate shooting and give information relevant to improving you technique. They are mostly used for dry-firing, although it is possible to use them with live fire.

Make sure you don't mix terminology to avoid confusion.

@TrainShot Look up bullseye target camera systems. I have that system and it does what the system you are trying to preview does. I used the camera system for about a month before I stopped taking it to the range. It is a great system but I get the same results from looking through my scope and seeing my hits vs playing with WiFi or Bluetooth connections.

How do you hear it at an indoor range with other people? How shot up can the targets get before it starts having trouble seeing the target regions? How many hits can it take to the sensor unit and from what calibers? What's the working range between the target sensor and the smart device (especially important for rifle use)?

This is really useful, thank you! I am not a professional, but can it be both? Electronic target system and also Electronic trainer? Because TrainShot gives you your shooting score and also gives information like reaction time to improve yourself. It has also reflex drill and it says you when you should shoot and measures your reflection time. I dont know..

TrainShot is not on the rails, you should hang it at the shooting range. It communicates via bluetooth. Guys tested TrainShot at indoor and outdoor shooting ranges, its disance is approx. 100 metres.

Thanks a lot! It was not allowed to publish any link, because I am a bigginer here or something like that.. And I didnt want to looks like an advertisment. You can hear it preety well, it announces "Alfa, Bravo, etc.". People like it so much, TrainShot is sold out now, approx. 10 000 targets were sold after IWA 2018, Germany. I am not sure about the second question, but TrainShot communicates by BlueTooth and its range is pprox. 100 metres. So you see your shooting results in your smartphone or tablet and you can shoot to it with any caliber. It is capable approx. 200 shots, but of course, it depends on caliber. Between TrainShot electronic unit and smart device can be approx. 100 metres. But guys are preparing extended anthenna to make bigger distance. But for now it is 100 metres which is I think preety enough for thraining.

Thanks a lot for the tip! TrainShot gives you your results of the shooting, but there are also training modes like Reflex drill or "ABCD schooting", I dont know its exact name. But I will check it

TrainShot electronic unit is protected by steel Hardox 600, so practicaly it is bulletproof. You can also buy additional shield made of polycarbonate. Guys are developing now an extender to protect the unit, because TrainShot unit is bulletproof, but not shockproof. They shot directly to unit I think 5 times and unit saved, but LED part was damaged. But they are selling also this part, so when you accidentaly shoot to unit and LED part would be damaged, it can remove it easily. Guys give on their e-shop preety good support for this product, I think.

Electronic Target scoring is used for matches held by gun clubs and organizations. It needs only to provide the exact location of the hit on the target, any other helpful information will not be allowed by the rules.
Electronic Trainers are used for personal training and any features that help are o.k. They are used by individuals to train. Almost always as a simulator, no actual shots are fired. They been around for decades. Currently SCATT is the most popular.

Electronic target scoring for indoor smallbore and air guns matches have been around for a long time. They are used by organizations that can afford them. Small gun clubs use the old way. It's only 33-50 ft to walk to the target.

Electronic targets for outdoor Highpower (centerfire) rifle matches are relatively new in the U.S. They are slowly being implemented and at this time not very reliable. It's a work in progress. There are several competing companies that fight with each other for this small market. I haven't shot on electronic targets yet, but people who did give them mixed reviews. Personally I prefer to see a hole in the paper, but the world is changing and electronic target scoring will be the way of the future.

I believe that this is a solution in search of a problem.

It is nice to add electronics in order to modernize some activities. A price of $183 for the electronics and $4.30 for every target is just too expensive. A practicing shooter can go through many targets in a single session. The benefit of "immediate feedback" just is not that important for most drills. If a shooter puts up a fresh 4-target sheet and fires two magazines, they can get sufficient feedback for $0.50 by reviewing their shots at the end of the drill and replacing the target to try again. Heck, I've got shapes drawn on scrap paper that can be posted for mere pennies that will afford the same feedback.

Therefore, at present, I find the TrainShot system to be cost-prohibitive (for me).
