This article says costs are up "largely due to the skyrocketing price of auto parts and the increasing number and severity of claims." There is also a claim that drivers are becoming more reckless. I can testify to that fact at least around rochester. I have seen a significant increase in the number of cars speeding way over the limit, running red lights and texting while driving. I even asked my wife and son and they said the same thing.

The auto body shops have the likely answer. If you have a not-so-new car and you get into a fender bender, they will be replacing $4000-$7000 in 'parts and labor'. Just ask your local body and fender guy whenever insurance payments are involved. The days of getting paid for the parts and labor for new parts, and the mechanic 'banging out the dent', sanding, and compounding the area while being paid the average cost of repair and replacement are long gone.

The auto industry is 2 separate businesses, sales and service. The automakers make a safer car (arguable) but the parts and repairs are through the roof. You do not have to drive a Tesla to notice this.

You can expect when any kind of utility increases, the reason is to cover the "low income" free loaders. My power bill almost doubled in in 3 years, yet usage is DOWN. The scumbag across the street who is "disabled" doesn't have to pay her power bill. Then HEAP gave the POS air conditioners that run all summer. My family cut A/C usage due to cost. But her fat ass is nice and cool though. Everything is backwards.
