Just because a small, redundant, magazine is fixed in the grip does not prevent the rifle from accepting a detachable magazine.

I fixed a mag on my PS90.
It shipped with a 30 round limited one.
I bought the correct follower and brought it to the designed capacity of 50 rounds.
That fixed the problem.
On a related note, anyone have any idea where you would need a 50 round mag that was blocked down to 30 ? I can't figure out why they even made such a thing.

I love this compliance mechanism. This is great for our friends in California, it is sure to anger their police and DAs. Unfortunately it wouldn't work here in New York for compliance. To avoid the "assault weapon" definition in California the rifle only needs to have a fixed magazine, in New York the rifle needs to not have the ability to accept a detachable magazine.

I'd avoid this product just on the music they used in the video. Are they trying NOT to sell these to anyone?
Any gun has "the ability" to accept a detachable magazine. It's just how much work you have to complete to get it to the point where it is configured to accept one.
It's such idiotic wording.
just use a mag lock and that's it. The day you move to a free state is the day it will be as God intended. You are complying with the spirit of the law, no DA is going to charge you for having a mag lock that if you break the gun apart and rebuild it will then have the ability to accept a detachable mag.
It's clown world. I can't tell if it's elaborate trolling or genuine.
You are "permenantly attaching a magazine" to your rifle. (Never mind you it's something like a .22lr pistol mag within the grip of your AR-15) but that's besides the point. They genuinely might think they're complying verbatim with a terribly written law. This solution doesn't make sense but neither do these stupid "assault rifle" ban laws

With that approach, they really should just get a broken mag and repair it, then say "now it's a fixed mag..."
Just use a 20 cent nut and washer.
Why spend $40 on something that is easily rectified by spending $0.25 at your local hardware store?
Same thing. End result is the same.
I suppose it's just how comfortable you are either way or mechanically inclined and confident you are.

Its Cali Law .. they didn't define where the fixed magazine had to be .. it just had to have a fixed mag ..
hell you could weld one to the barrel shroud .. the gun has a fixed mag .. per Cali Law ..

I'm not sure any of those are magazines, fixed or not.
A magazine is where rounds are stored prior to being fed into the chamber. Since rounds can't be fed into the chamber from those (without manually removing them first), I think once you bolt that box into the grip, or on a rail or something they cease being magazines at all.
Otherwise, these would be "fixed magazines"
And you could just throw one of these on instead of the extra stupid doohicky.
