To use Hillary's favorite...At this point, what does it matter? Some people have no issue with constant encroaching on the 2nd which was put in place to give the people the ability to right a failing government. We're no longer allowed to own some of the weapons that would give us this advantage which are common place in the military, and are being further limited by banning certain weapons and their magazines. Being forced to open carry just makes it easy to track anyone the gov sees fit and I wouldn't be surprised if that's part of their reasoning in some circles. The 2nd no longer has any teeth.

How many times in this thread alone have certain people said that concealed carry is not protected by the 2nd?? This has been a major issue with this thread. Either protect both or don't bother. Just because States recognize concealed carry, it doesn't mean they always will. As we can see with the ever chipping away at the 2nd and leftist loonies gaining popularity. And for the record, 5 States do not recognize open carry and you are forced to conceal carry. I'd rather conceal in most cases, but the choice should be mine and mine alone.

If concealed carry is a tool for self defense and overthrowing the government, then it's protected. Some here seem to think that overthrowing the government consists of wearing a uniform and standing in a battlefield. They cannot even fathom a guerilla war where you conceal, get close and fire at a government official or soldier protecting the tyrannical government. They think you should be licensed for it by the government.

@FrankenCub you like some others are looking at this from the wrong direction. We live in a State that severely restricts pistols, NO? (lets just keep this about pistols.) And all these Court case's have been turned away by the SCOTUS from the few other States which also restrict pistols! We do have pistol license as do 49 other States, Right ? So what are we complaining about (Sarcasm!!) Now what if we were to fight for the Right to Open Carry like the other 45 States (Which is the Constitutional protected Right) Would that not knock the Sullivan Act on it's ear? The State want's to restrict my CCW fine I'll just Open Carry which the Constitution protects!! How do you like me NOW!!

I'm looking at it from the direction that my Rights are protected (well, are supposed to be) open or concealed across the US. Not limited to certain jurisdictions that choose to allow it. The 2nd doesn't just protect pistols, but to play the game I'll keep it at that. I'm limited on where I can go with my pistol, I'm limited to how much ammo it can carry, and I'm limited on how I can carry it. The BOR were written for the country as a whole. But some feel States can over ride federal BOR. States continue to pass unconstitutional laws and the SCOTUS thumbs it's collective nose at us. Just look at the other "common use" weapons that are banned here to see where our pistols will be in the future. The BOR are no longer valid otherwise we wouldn't be having this conversation. Some are willing to allow some limitations, some see those limitations as the next step to subjugation.

As you say here in NYS we are limited, I agree! But why? Because we are limited to the Sullivan Act (NYS Penal Law 400) which people keep trying to fight in Court. 49 other States issue pistol permits as I said. 45 have Open carry do you think they feel infringed that they need to get a License to conceal carry some as easy as buying a hunting or fishing license.
Fighting for open carry is not going to make concealed carry go away!
Yes States do keep passing unconstitutional laws (Be glad Trump was Elected) because they know that they have to work through the Courts!
And as far as the SCOTUS thumbing there nose, with the recent make-up of the Court that may have been a good thing. Remember there Ruling is final!!

It would be owned by the government contractor ( who could be owned by him but it’s the company’s or government entity ‘s.) .There are very few exceptions to it and private non governmental “contractor” or entity isn’t on that list. But if I am wrong, great. It still falls under that regulation we are talking about. But 2nd admendment has limits as does any “right” under the constitution. We disagree as to those limits begin and end. And the “individual right “ has only been formally recognized since Heller although the Dred Scott case did mention it.
The “common standard “ was set by Heller and McDonald which is less than the “effective standard “. SBR, selective fire rifles are not common. Semi auto is. 30 round magazines are common. I hope the court under Trump will finally enforce Heller and McDonald if not recognize more carry rights.
But the court will not recognize beyond that. Let’s be realistic. The positive is that the lower courts are now recognizing stun guns, nunchucks and other weapons as protected.More should come. Non semi autos have been too.

Where in the 2A does it say common? The only reason that comes up is because a corrupt judge who was looking for a way to limit the 2A ruled as such.
