Last time I returned from a cruise, U.S. passport holders simply stepped up to the customs service camera and...bam!...face recognized. Didn't even need to show the passport if the facial recognition was effective. I was surprised just how fast the search occurred.

This is why I didn’t opt out of the monthly child tax credits and get it in one lump sum at the end of the year. The ID me web site is so invasive it’s not even funny.
first they ask all the usual stuff, then SS#, then they ask for front and back of your drivers license and I did all that. Then they want you to turn your phone on yourself and do the facial recognition software. I stopped there and said fuck it.

True but the more pictures you feed their facial recognition systems, the easier it will be to ID you. That's how all that deepfake shit got popular. Celebrities have a ton of pictures of their faces from all angles / possibilities, making it easy to do.

The less material you give them, the harder it will be for their system to recognize you.

A while ago there was a bunch of articles around anti-facial recognition face paint. I wonder if shit like this will become more a thing as it's more and more widely used. Will be like something out of Cyberpunk 2077.

Sounds great. If I'm not mistaken this is the software that I had to use to change my extra child tax credit they started sending to me in August. Despite several attempts, and all the correct documentation, it failed to authenticate me, so I just could not make the change. Impossible to do.

It is the same software and same website. I didn’t have an account and I attempted to do the same thing as you. I stopped when they wanted access to my phone and me to take a picture to myself.
