Hi there,
This is my friend's story. He rented a house from a LEO. The landlord does not live in that house, and his address registration is another place. My friend found that there is a LEO's AR15 in the basement of the house. Its trigger is locked, but it is not kept in a Gun Safe. My friend is not a LEO and we all know he can not possess any Assault Weapon and Mag with more than 10-round.
My question is: Is this case a violation of the gun law for my friends? The AR15 is not his, but is in his place of residence; the trigger is locked, but can be touched anytime. Is it a violation for the LEO for not keeping his firearm with him?
What should my friend do for this situation to protect himself? Any suggestion is welcome.
Thank you in advance.
Bob
