the police know your CCW permit is tied to your Driver license. is there a statute where its written down
Here is Texas your DL number is printed on the CCW license itself.
Then your bowlegged, silly.what if you have none and ride horseback all the time ??
You ccw does not come up when your DL is run. Period, end of story.
Yet.You ccw does not come up when your DL is run. Period, end of story.
Yet.
With all due respect ABG, does your PD use the same database as the NYSP? Is it possible they have access to info that local PD's don't have?
My PD has more money and resources than the NYSP by a measure of about 700%.
It doesn’t come up when your DL number is run, but my father says there is another screen in the computer where you can look to see about a pistol permit or gun ownership. Do you find the same thing or is this a county by county thing? You ccw does not come up when your DL is run. Period, end of story.
My PD has access to who owns guns. My father is a cop and tells me they do. My dad is very middle of the road on guns. It doesn’t come up whenthey do a simple DL run, but there is another screen to look at and it’s very easy to do. Not sure if it’s NCIC or whatever, but he says it’s there. With all due respect ABG, does your PD use the same database as the NYSP? Is it possible they have access to info that local PD's don't have?

I wish they would start listening to people who actually know what they are talking about. You ccw does not come up when your DL is run. Period, end of story.
While airborne guy does know what he’s talking about and is technically correct there is a way to run your name and get that information easily by the police officer stopping you at the side of the road. So while a simple run of your drivers license does not yeild that information toggle to another page on that same computer and that same cop in that same police car and they have that information. I just feel people need to know that information. Some cops are probably lazy, don’t care, or don’t feel the need to do this, but I’ll bet there are some that check the gun database ever car stopped.I wish they would start listening to people who actually know what they are talking about.

But I guess to strictly answer the OP question I 100% agree with AG and that there is no law written connecting them together.
There are plenty of municipalities that have or are working on merging data. Erie and Niagara counties are working on that right now. You can’t say that is the case for everywhere. Not quite.
The cop can run your name separately ( meaning manually entering your name and DOB) thru a separate AND LOCAL database . That means if you have a gun permit in Nassau county and they are running your name in Albany , it’s not popping up.

Also my father specifically said it’s just a separate screen on the computer and said nothing of it being county based or local. That maybe the case and I’m not sure on that, but there is data sharing. Also now with the pistol permit renewals going through the NYSP there could be a state database. I know for a fact and it’s well known that all pistol permit records were shared with the Canadian border police. I know once I got my permit I get asked repeatedly if I have any weapons on me crossing the boarder.
