This is why the NDAA National Defense Authorization Act should be scrutinized every time it is rammed through. Under other items is where you will find the propaganda funding. Anyone who wants to debate the NDAA will be marked as one against funding the military. This will keep happening, no matter who is chosen by the powers that be.

This is extremely disturbing. The "media" should be outraged. Citizens should be outraged.
More and more it's becoming clear we are unapologetically and boldly inching closer to totalitarianism and NO ONE (except us whackos reading fake news, and posting on gun forums) act like any of it matters.
This country is on a terrible path and Obama cannot leave office soon enough. I truly hope trump is a pragmatic man of integrity who loves America. He needs to un do the past 8 years. If he doesn't follow through on his promises......yikes.

If Trump fails in his (our) mission to turn the country around, I will be the first on the band wagon to oust him from office. Likewise, if he does the job we sent him to Washington to do, then he has my continued support

They changed the name to "Global Engagement Center" to be ran by the State Department, page 547, just a little highlight below.
S. 2943—547
SEC. 1287. GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT CENTER.
(a) ESTABLISHMENT.—
(1) IN GENERAL.—Not later than 180 days after the date
of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of State, in coordination
with the Secretary of Defense and the heads of other
relevant Federal departments and agencies, shall establish
within the Department of State a Global Engagement Center
(in this section referred to as the ‘‘Center’’).
(2) PURPOSE.—The purpose of the Center shall be to lead,
synchronize, and coordinate efforts of the Federal Government
to recognize, understand, expose, and counter foreign state
and non-state propaganda and disinformation efforts aimed
at undermining United States national security interests.

(4) Identify current and emerging trends in foreign propaganda
and disinformation in order to coordinate and shape the
development of tactics, techniques, and procedures to expose
and refute foreign misinformation and disinformation and
proactively promote fact-based narratives and policies to audiences
outside the United States.
(5) Facilitate the use of a wide range of technologies and
techniques by sharing expertise among Federal departments
and agencies, seeking expertise from external sources, and implementing
best practices.
(6) Identify gaps in United States capabilities in areas relevant
to the purpose of the Center and recommend necessary enhancements
or changes.
(7) Identify the countries and populations most susceptible
to propaganda and disinformation based on information provided
by appropriate interagency entities. "
There is nothing in there that we have not been doing for a very long time. This is part of warfare and it is aimed at foreign populations and actors. Sorry, I think you are getting upset over nothing. A majority of the populations in the countries we are "assisting" are illiterate and can only go by what their leaders tell them is happening. That is one reason we have people listening to stories over the airways in the languages of the land. We have been doing this as long as I can remember.

It's to identify the BS out there about the US and tell our side of things. It's not much different than a Voice of America for the Internet age as it stands right now. Can it be twisted. Absolutely but remember this bill was passed with the knowledge that Trump would be president by people who hate him. I doubt it is anything more than a new VOA.

"narrative" is prog-speak for propaganda, AKA bullshit.
Maybe not yet, but someone, someday, will turn this inward and use it against American citizens.
I believe American's are not that easily deceived and if this past election proves anything, they do not trust their government to tell the truth at all. It would be very hard if not impossible for the US Government to pull off something that grand on our population. They would have to severely sensor the internet, radio transmissions, television broadcasts, and telephones from all over the world.
Not going to happen in our lifetimes.
