Ithaca deerslayer value?

A good friend of mine is interested in buying a shotgun from his brother in law but isn't sure what it's worth and what to offer.
The details he provided me are it's a Ithaca Deerslayer Featherlite 37 smooth bore. On a scale of 1-10 is a solid 9. Early serial # that started with 1800.

Anyone have any ball park figures he can work with?

I have had one for over 50 years many shotguns have come and gone, my Ithaca will never be gone,

$500-750 would be a guess on value

Under serial# 855,000, (1963) barrels are fit to the receiver and not interchangeable like modern shotguns. A turn off if the buyer wanted to have a bird, slug & trap/skeet barrels. Just FYI.

Solid top receiver keeps the dirt and weather out. Bottom ejection makes it great for left-handed shooters. IMO more value than any Rem. 870 or Mossy 500. ( ok, let the shit storm begin...) Great slug gun... Serial # says 1975 DOM.

I would need mucho dinero to ever give up mine...I've had it for around 40 years. I traded a left handed 870 20 ga. with a 28" full choke barrel for it (even trade). It's a "police special". 12 ga. smoothbore, capable of slam firing. My daughter has a newer version much like the OP's. Hers has a rifled slug barrel and a 30" full choke barrel.

20 gauge was my first gun and I still have it to this day. I love the gun and it will be pried from my cold dead hands literally.
$450-$550 is a value I’d place on it today.
