Much like Obamacare. Government mandates that were supposed to cut health care and insurance costs (LOL!) ended up jacking everything related to healthcare much more expensive with tons of new hoops to jump through. The government and the insurance companies now completely dictate our health care choices and costs, a 6th of our economy.
Local and State building codes and the inspectors who oversee them are already freaking ridiculous and expensive to deal with. More FedGov involvement than there already is will be 10 times worse (or more), and drive a lot of people who dabble in real estate and house flipping right out of the market permanently, and thus right out of wealth creation.
Snuggle up to the plutocracy, the multinationals, and the robber barons, because they're going to be the only ones running the shitshow or making a "profit" (in funny money) in the long run.

I think part of the problem is that everyone writing laws like this are so far divorced from financial hardship that they just can't empathize with the impacts it has on everyone else. $30k additional cost on a multi-million dollar home is peanuts. $30k additional cost on, say houses in the $200-300k range is a pretty massive impact.
There's also the current reality of the housing market. I've bought or sold three houses in 2024, and in all cases, all offers were cash. No one is taking out a mortgage. Which means a LOT of people are being left out in the cold in terms of owning a house.

I get that but the people that feel this way need to be in power to make it happen and if rules like this keep them out of office it won’t happen. However I think the repukes are in on this because they never use this crap to their advantage and if they wanted to be in power why wouldn’t they?

Then we need to make them feel our pain. We all need to band together and claim exempt to stop paying taxes. No money and no government function they lose power immediately. Yes it will hurt some and it will never happen but it would be a way to get them to listen to us and remind them we have power. While it’s illegal of you make over a certain amount what would they do arrest the entire country? I have no problem paying it back once they start working for us again. Well I still have a problem paying taxes but you know what I mean.

Correct but if there’s no money to run the government or give their puppeteers kickbacks they will lose their support. There’s too much money in politics and if a lot of people in the USA stop paying taxes puppets and puppeteers lose their power.
