What are some methods you guys use for IWB carry either with a tucked or untucked shirt?

First thing I always recommend is having a good gun belt. It makes more of a difference than most people realize. With that said all I've tried is the alien gear stuff, both the belt and their IWB & OWB stuff. I always try to comment on these threads to see what else is out there, because I would like to try some other things.

I use an alien gear holster with a Hanks Clothing Amish belt. I'm very happy with the holster. After about 6 or 7 years of every day wear, the belt is showing its age.
Good gun belt is a must.
Just as important, a good kydex holster (sorry fuddy old leather not for iwb, and hybrids really dont hold up, few will but just go kydex it's going to give you the best of everything)
If you are going appendix get one with a claw or what ever the holster company calls theirs

I was a die hard Alien Gear 2.0, 3.0 guy the first couple years carrying.
I still like them, they are comfortable and work well.
However, it is alot of extra clips and alot of material.
I wanted to try a simple 1 clip Kydex for my Shield and wouldnt you know it, its perfect.
Pop it on, pop it off.....in....out......very easy.
I had a discount code from We The People Holsters so I bought one, its fine.
I also have a Bigfoot gun belt which is great.
I still like them, they are comfortable and work well.

Alien gear is great for what it is and to start with but trust me once you get a real good well made kydex you wont go back.

Advice?
Hopefully you have good friend with dozens of holsters for your handgun. Maybe they will lend them to you.
If not, get a big plastic tote. Really big. Then begin your holster collection. You will fill that tote in no time. Eventually settle on a few holsters you like.

I I know it sounds like I'm always going against the grain but why do you need a gun belt IWB? It's inside your pants. It isn't going to flop around. I've only tried a gun belt once and when I realized it was more uncomfortable than my thin JCPENNEY belt and it did absolutely nothing in regards to pushing it against my body anymore than my regular belt, I returned it. Even with dress pants I've used the thin half inch belt and my holster never moved. And that's with a one clip holster which is the only type of holster I'll carry. I don't see the sense in 2 clip holsters either. They take up half your body and you can't remove the holster without damned near taking off your pants. With a 1 clip holster I can draw the gun with the holster attached without even loosening my belt.

Remora is great for smaller pistols. And they stay right where you put them. Made my own kydex and is well worth it as you can set the cant/depth/etc., to your liking. For my bigger pistols, like the SIG 229, I have leather IWB! Nothing better, with a quality belt as noted.
But to each his own, and most carrying firearm owners wind up with a drawer full of holsters either used and moved on, or tried and never liked, lol.

First, I think going against the grain is just your thing.
I agree that as long as your clips hold the belt, a gun belt is not necessary for IWB.
I often carry a Glock 20 and a GP100 OWB.
A gun belt is neccessary to keep the gun high and tight.
Ive tried both guns with a regular belt.
No matter how tight I made the belt, the gun sagged.
With the gun belt, even the GP100 disappears.
I dont even feel the weight of the gun.

Your glock weighs 21.7 oz unloaded.
My GP100 weighs over 40 oz unloaded.
My post was about needing a belt for OWB carrying.
With a regular belt, my GP100 bounces all over.
With gun belt, its not noticeable, like its not there.

Yeah. OWB, you need it since the gun isn't supported by anything other than the belt itself. IWB, it's supported by your belt, your pants, and your body.
I was referring to those that said it's needed for IWB.
I would have to disagree about the belt thing. I have had 100% the opposite experience. With what look like the same JCPenny belt was noticeably less comfortable than my gun belt. I do agree with you assessment that a gin belt doesn't add to the ability to draw or keep the gun in place. Now position, body build and holster might be the difference of perception.

How does a belt add more comfort? The holster is against the body. Not the belt.

But the holster is being pushed up against your body by your pants. Very little weight actually goes on the belt itself. The belt just helps push it even closer. The gun isn't hanging off the belt. It is just another anchor point that keeps it from going up or down.
I used to carry with a Remora with no belt contact at all. It had no clips.

I said that i tried one in a previous post. Returned it. It made no difference. In fact, the belt felt too stiff around my waist where I couldn't really tighten it as much as I wanted due to the extra thickness.
