When I was in school back in the mid 70's and 80's, I learned about many religions.
I had no issue back then, and I have no issue with this now. Kind of no issue.
We learned of these religions through Social Studies. It was an important part of learning about other cultures.
We did not spend days upon days learning of them. When we learned about other nations and their cultures, religion was discussed. Nothing wrong with this. I hear people bitching about Separation of Church and State; learning about other cultures has nothing to do with this.
Pushing and over teaching one religion, regardless of the religion, in public schools is wrong.
In this case, the case of teaching this Muzzie crap, yeah, less is better for our students.

An academic study of religion is OK, indoctrination not so much.
Thankfully the default position is already atheism, so no teaching is nessisary.

Are you implying the "default position" of a person is atheism and they are taught religion, or are you implying the "default position" of schools is to teach atheism (which isn't really true - most of them don't teach ANYTHING, whether religious or non-religious).
The default position is non belief in a position until proven otherwise.

There are not "defaults" in nature the way you suggest.
If you are appealing to Occams razor, neither proposition (theism or atheism) is likely based on the available evidence but one must be true.
The degree of fine-tuning required to produce a universe capable of supporting life is highly unlikely absent some underlying intelligence.
But the existence of such an intelligence also seems highly unlikely.
Neither possibility can be regarded as "the default position".
There is only reality and fantasy. If the theists are right you will know some day.
We will never know if the atheists are right.
